The school board finally backed down and approved The Tides Community Charter School. Those bureaucrats thought they could ignore us but 957 signatures forced their hand. We won this fight for our children and now we keep a sharp eye on them to ensure they follow through.
We, the undersigned, believe that a humanistic education alternative is important in our Los Angeles public schools and we believe that opening The Tides Community Charter School for grades K-8 in September 2009 will be highly beneficial to our community.
The bureaucrats at the district office are still stalling because they are terrified of a real educational alternative. We are pushing hard behind the scenes to force their hand and ensure Tides gets the green light it deserves.

The existing schools are just test factories. We need something creative for these grades.

LA needs more options like this. My kids are bored in their current schools and this sounds like a great fresh start for our neighborhood.
