Over half of the neighborhood is hardy plank. All structures built since 2000 are hardy plank. The UDC is a thorn in the side of the common homeowner. Developers can do whatever they please in Cabbagetown, and the UDC does nothing to stop it. It's madness.

Hardiplank is a much better product and should be accepted as a variance. Especially since it matches wood but better.

This house was upgraded nicely regardless of what the bi laws state. I hope he is allowed to keep it this way and others in the area are motivated to also make their homes more updated and beautiful.

In my opinion hardiplank siding on houses is a welcomed type of improvement on houses here in Cabbagetown. It has the look of wood siding but also offers many benefits that you can't get with wood siding.

Many, many houses in this neighborhood have Hardiplank siding and yours looks fine the way it is!

As an architect and Cabbagetown homeowner, I support the use of Hardi Plank in this case. The aesthetics looks the same as wood lap siding, it wont deteriorate and rot like the existing wood lap siding homes, and there are precedents for existing homes with Hardi Plank currently installed.

+2 for supporting the variance. If it was a more noticeable variation from Cabbagetown aesthetics, I would care - but plenty of houses have hardiplank on the street and surrounding streets.

As a resident of Cabbagetown I see no reason why they should not be allowed to use hardiplank siding.
