Washington ranks 31 in poor access to mental health. Prescribing psychologist can address this problem. Many other states have enacted prescribing laws and the results are improved access to safe and quality care.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist working in a primary care setting with underserved populations. So many of our patients need psychiatric treatment but the access is severely limited. Many of our family medicine providers are uncomfortable prescribing certain medications as they haven't had vast training in this specific area, unlike psychologists. One of my colleagues just completed her post-doctoral masters in psychopharmacology and her knowledge of mental health concerns from her doctorate in clinical psychology coupled now with her masters in psychopharmacology makes her more qualified than many prescribing providers. Let's follow other states who have already passed this bill and help improve much needed access to mental health services.

The lack of prescribing physicians in psychiatry that are available for patients requires that we close this gap by allowing more providers into this space.

Prescribing psychologists have so much to offer in terms of treatment of mental health conditions. Combining therapy with medication management is tremendously helpful. Clients are forthcoming about what works and doesn't because of rapport and time spent together in treatment. I strongly support the RXP movement and hope that Washington State will support this bill.

This is going to be great for Washington residents if this passes. As someone who sees patients in Washington state as a licensed psychologist, I know firsthand the burden of trying to find psychiatric care for them.

Idaho now has much needed prescribing privileges for psychologists. I certainly support this legislation in the state of Washington where it also will benefit your citizens.

Two studies have now demonstrated that suicide rates in states where psychologists can prescribe were lower than expected based on other states. Please save lives.

There is such a lack of competent, culturally aware providers for the minority populations. We need to allow solutions like this to go forward.

As a medical (prescribing) psychologist in Louisiana, I cannot begin to tell you how much this has meant to the patients we serve. The need is ever-growing and has to expand to other states, and the entire United States. We have a duty to serve those who need mental health and psychopharmacological services. Please consider passing this statute and look at other states that have successfully rolled it out for almost 20 years, now.
