Support the Washington State Prescribing Psychologist Bill: Expanding Access to Quality Healthcare

This bill should be passed because there is many people who are deaf and blind that struggle to find someone who will actually will help them out knowing their condition and i feel like this would make it easier and better access for all.

Please pass prescribing medical psychology in Washington State in the 2025 legislative session. Prescribing medical psychologists have been prescribing safely for over 30 years. We need more providers to address the barriers to psychiatric medications in our state.

This bill could be beneficial, with the proper education and training. Allowing more mental/ medical health concerns to be addressed and possibly caught at an earlier stage. Some medical issues are misdiagnosed as mental issues and vice versa. Psychologists could have the resources needed for their patients with this additional access to prescribe medication, when that is the immediate treatment option, for the safety and health of a patient. However, this comment is in no way supporting resorting to medications as the first plan of treatment. A psychologist should know when this is the necessary avenue and should have access to prescribe on behalf of the patient's best interest. Medical help should be available before the situation turns critical. Not after!

It is so important for patients to have access to prescriptions. So many people have to drive to different states in order to get their medications, which in all likelihood increases gas prices. People shouldn't have to drive cross-country or even from state to state to get their medications.

Let the people have easier access to beneficial medication

This bill is crucial to improving the lives and care of countless individuals in Washington state. This bill needs to pass as soon as possible.

Seems like a good step for Washington.

This needs to happen for Washington State's mental health crisis.

This is something that is a necessity for the deaf community and they cannot be turned away with something like this.

This is an easy makes sense bill and done other places.

Prescribing psychologists have been prescribing safely for over 30 years. This is a solution for Washington State's mental health crisis. This bill needs to pass ASAP.

Washington needs this! My best friends live in rural Washington and have poor access to BH. Washington needs to do this for its citizens.

This would help SO much with some of the people I know and I've known as the clinics around me have so few psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who can prescribe to patients. I hope this helps.

It’s a fact, many of the “mental health” issues we face can be relieved by medications that replace chemicals that are normally found in the brain, but that are missing in the brains of of those who suffer. Their suffering can lead to harm to themselves and/or others. With certain exceptions, Psychologists knowledgeable in pharmacology, will be just as effective In treating patients and will be far more accessible.

I am in favor. Psychologists would receive training to do this and this could save lives, specially in rural areas.

I support this bill that will help alleviating problems for many Washingtonians who are in need of psychiatric medications but cannot get them. The problem is real for those who face this. We cannot just sit around and hope for the best.
