Stand in Support of Vision Zero

It is time for Montgomery County to wholeheartedly adopt Vision Zero. It is a matter of life and death.

Let’s make roads safer for bicyclists in Montgomery County!

We need to stop retrofitting our roads for larger vehicles, instead, let’s set requirements on maximum vehicle size and power. We don’t need super trucks, nor race cars on our streets. Delivery trucks need to be sized for smaller roads and shorter radius turns. Finally, moving violation need to be strictly enforced. Letting people drive 45mph in front of a school when the speed limit is already too fast at 35mph is ludicrous. Phones need to be completely disabled while in a moving vehicle.

We need more lanes for biking. My friend, Jake Cassell, died because there was not a bike lane and no barrier.

Thank you for working on this extremely important issue. As a runner and cyclist, all too often I've encountered drivers not paying attention and almost been hit when I was in a crosswalk or had the right of way.

Redesign our transportation infrastructure to be safe for all users.

Vision Zero is meaningless without action behind it that results in reducing deaths.

People should be able to bike safely in Montgomery County.

Driver education is an easy mantra, but not that effective when even simple rules are net enforced. Even walking around County property -Montgomery College, CESC near Mannakee St. & Rt 355- is a challenge with not only students, but apparent staff/faculty- manifesting difficulty with understanding 4 letter words on octagnal red signs and the significance of humans on sidewalks near driveways.

The State has billions to spend on roads, but so little to spend making bike lanes and sidewalks, safe. For shame!

This is so important we’ve had several people hit on our three-way stop sign. Something needs to be done

Both my husband and I have been hit by cars as pedestrians in Moco. Both times we were crossing on a green pedestrian signal but a car turned right on red right into us. This has to change!

My son was killed on Old Georgetown Road because of the lack of buffer between the sidewalk and Road. Our lives are forever broken due to poor public policy and complacency. Unacceptable.

Please legislate people over cars

August 12, 2014, my husband Bruce went for a prescribed heart walk, told me he'd be back in half hr, longest half hr of my life, he was hit by a car half block from our house, Baltimore Rd and Rt 28, thrown 73' over her SUV, he spent 9 wks in Shock Trauma in Baltimore, his dr was Dr Scala, dr in charge and 6 wks at Adventist Rehab, came home one day before Thanksgiving. In house PT, Occupational Therapist , home nurse and a helping Angel for half day for a month, then out patient therapy till April or May. We are still having problems every 3 to 6 months and still NO settlement, close, Medicare sent final check to HER insurance, now our lawyer is trying to get it back. IT has been a nightmare. I would like to advocate in any way I could, if possible. My phone no is 301-340-1506!!!!

The goals of Vision Zero should be happening now. Only caring people can make it occur.

People walking and biking being injured and killed by car drivers is a policy failure. We can do better. Many other jurisdictions already have. There is no excuse to keep killing people like this.
