As of December 17, there have been 564 pedestrians and bicyclists have been injured and 14 killed in Montgomery County this year.
And in the last four years, 58 pedestrians and cyclists have been killed on our roadways.
We must make our streets safer for every Montgomery County resident.
In an effort to end vehicular-related deaths by 2030, Montgomery County is increasing road safety, installing new bike lanes and adding more signs and lights.
But we must do more!
Sign this petition and leave a comment to ensure our roads are safe for every resident.
The time is now to implement Vision Zero. No more deaths on our roadways!

I was just checking the counter and we happen to be creeping up on that two hundred fifty mark which is honestly wild since I started this on a total whim sitting at my kitchen table with way too much coffee. Tuckerman Lane crossings are very dangerous, too. I've seen people almost get killed as they try to cross the street in the pedestrian crosswalks. Drivers are just NOT paying attention and pedestrians don't look both ways before crossing!
I survived being hit by a car while crossing Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Center. I was in a crosswalk which now, 8 years later, has some pedestrian friendly upgrades. Why do we wait for people to get killed. I drive but believe strongly in cameras.
Maryland DOT needs to repaint crosswalks in Silver Spring, especially Colesville Road at Beltway entrances & exits. Blair High School students walk across these ramps every morning and every evening during rush hour traffic!
I have both witnessed and lost a friend to a pedestrian/truck collision. I have also witnessed a bike/auto collision. I would argue that both were entirely avoidable. I couldn't agree more with the need to make roads safer everywhere.
I wofor Uber Eats on my Bycicle for 8hrs a day everyday and I realize how dangerous the streets really are for Pedestrians, Handicapped and Cyclist. I want safe, off-the-main-road bicycle lanes and pedestrian walkways to reduce the chance of people getting run over and killed.
In general, Maryland has very poor and callous drivers. Much more needs to be done to prevent pedestrian injuries and deaths. Vision Zero is a good step in the right direction.

I cross a busy street at a cross walk almost everyday and cars rarely stop. On occasion, one car will stop but the cars in the other two lanes will keep going full speed, making it impossible to cross.
