Support Sustainability on the UW-Madison Campus

Sustainability now will keep our future costs down.

More than common sense it defines care and concern for our shared future.

I whole heartily support this project that will be a source of civic pride for Madison, and serve as a sustainable best practice example.

All new buildings and design, anywhere and everywhere, must be geared towards sustainability!

Yes to buildings with net-zero energy standards, the UW should be a leader in climate resilience and sustainability.

A sustainable plan for and build-out of West Campus must include careful consideration of stormwater management, natural amenities, aesthetics, and accommodations for all communities using this resource.

We need UW-Madison to invest in their students' futures. This means making sustainability a priority!

A variety of UW-Madison faculty are global thought leaders on climate change issues. So definitely UW-Madison should lead by example in the design of its West Campus District, prioritizing high-value, low-carbon, climate resilient designs.

As a double alumnus of the Univ. of Wisc.-Madison and as a strong sustainability advocate, an active member of the Wisc. Alumni Association, and member of the First Unitarian Society in Shorewood Hills, I am in full support of ensuring that the West Campus District plan is a model of sustainability for all future UW-Madison future development.

I hope a sustainability-focused West District Campus plan can help the climate -- and help protect Lake Mendota and the many waterfowl we see there at this time each year.

This is a very important issue - we owe it to our children and all the world's children to get this right. Climate action is not something "nice to have" but a necessity.

As a Meteorology, Law and B.S.M.E. grad of UW, I welcome this effort to support UW's and Earth's future.

Sustainability is indeed an important metric for future building projects! We need to think about how our buildings contribute to climate change and reimagine how we operate because net-zero facilities are certainly possible!

Currently the vegetative buffer along Willow Drive to handle flooding is pretty minimal. I recommend planting native prairie in that area.

I urge UW Madison to demonstrate leadership in developing the West Campus District as a model of sustainability, equity, and climate mitigation.

Climate is vital to our future
