Support the STEM Women of Color Conclave

This support has been tremendous! I received the travel award while I was a faculty member at an HBCU with limited travel support. Now that I'm serving in an administrative capacity at a different (and larger) university, I'm able to leverage other funds and also contribute personally to the organization in ways to enable others. As such, these travel awards provide capacity building for our community. Please continue this support!

The Conclave has served me to find new approaches to professional and personal situations in my job. I sure hope that this effort can be sustained for the benefit of so many Women of Color in Science in our Universities and Research Institutes.

I attended the most recent STEM Women of Color Conclave. I recieved a travel award to attend the conclave, which I would have otherwise not been able to attend. As a fellow at the NIH I do not often get the chance to network with professors in the academy, and the conclave provided that rare and beneficial oppurtunity.

The STEM Women of Color Conclave has supported my continued growth as a Biology Professor. I would never have achieved this growth in academics as a minority female without the support and direction of the members of the conclave.

I am so thankful for the hotel, registration, and travel award that I received; my university did not have the funds to give me to attend the conference. Attending STEM Women of Color Conclave had a positive impact on my life. I will always support this organization. I needed this support group long time ago; I am so elated that I am a member now. The Conclave has become a unique institution where women of color voice their concerns and learn to navigate their careers in academia and science. These group of talented women and under the leadership of Dr. Kelly Mack and Dr. Claudia Rankins are paving the road for future generations of women of color in STEM fields.

As a professor of mathematics at a school that does not financially support national professional development, I greatly benefited from attending the STEM Women of Color Conclave over the past two years as a travel grant recipient. Without the financial support, I would not have been able to attend. The Conclave gave me the opportunity to relax with other women in STEM fields, share challenges and successes, network, and receive encouragement. As a result of attending the Conclave, I received guidance and confidence to submit my application for promotion to full professor at my institution. This past year I received the promotion, and encouraged other women of color to attend the Conclave. The network of STEM women has helped me not to feel isolated in my field and instead to feel a sense of support from the network that I have been able to form by attending the Conclave. The financial support is needed to continue this great endeavor not only for me and the other women that have attended in the past but also for the women who will come after us. This is the only professional development that I have attended that focuses on my growth as an academician AND as a woman of color. I have not been able to experience the nurturing received at the Conclave since I left my historically black women's college as an undergraduate.

Participating in two Conclaves has been very rewarding!

The Conclave has been invaluable is so many ways...one example....because of the Conclave via the workshops, keynote speakers and most of all the participants, I have the courage to continue in academia.

The Conclave is life-changing by positively impacting self-efficacy beliefs, networking, encouragement, and scholarship, to name a few.

This is a wonderful idea. I am still applying the knowledge that I learned at the previous STEM Women of Color Conclave. I am convinced that this information will provide a vehicle of growth for all that attend.

This program has been a profound benefit to me. It has contributed tremendously to my professional development. Being a STEM scientist can be a challenge. Being a minority STEM scientist can at times be tendencies trying. Having a support system like the one that exist with the Conclave is invaluable. I can not imagine having this system their as a resource.

The conclave has been so beneficial to me. The questions answered here were not answered at my own institution. I provided a safe space. The travel award I received was even more beneficial because many universities pay only if you present.

The Society of STEM Women of Color has made significant contributions to its members leadership capabilities through its stellar programming. Providing recognition of their growth and development in the form of continuing education credits will surely accelerate their advancement to STEM leadership roles.

The Conclave has been a safe place for me to explore my past present and future as a woman of color in the academy. It continuation and enhancements will offer this same opportunity to the next generation of women of color in STEM.

The conclave has helped me throughout my junior career. Now, I'm transitioning to the next step and it will be great to have the extended professional development opportunities for promotion.
