The shooting sports will all always be an important part of the U.S. sporting culture! My daughter has been researching colleges, and an important requirement in deciding where she goes is if the college has a shooting sports team!

Really hope Simpson College is able to continue their shooting club. What a great team sport it is that includes everyone regardless of their abilities. DAC

As a high school trap coach of several years, the benefits of having a shooting sports club are immeasurable. This sport give a child the ability to excel regardless of their athletic ability. It teaches safety and responsibility. This is a sport they can participate in their whole lives. We have had tremendous success sending our graduates to college which on a trap scholarship. This helps them become better young men and women. Please stand your ground and keep this program.

I was one of the founding members of the shooting sports club and, after graduating, have continued to support the organization as a volunteer. There are many worthy places I could volunteer my limited spare time but none are more worthy than for the value I believe the shooting sports brings to Simpson and the Indianola community.

Shooting sports give those who don't participate in the "typical" sports an opportunity to be involved. Believe it or not.... A Shooting sport is one of the safest programs.

Please continue to offer this club as it offers the opportunity for all individuals to participate and promotes gun safety and responsibility.

This provides an unique opportunity for a sport that is often overlooked and should be supported. Too often there is a misunderstanding about the benefits of shooting sports by those that do not participate in them.

I firmly support Simpson's initiative to support its shooting team/club and providing the resources necessary, including a coach/recruiter, to assure it's growth and success.

Why not teach the students respect for guns just like we should for driving a car?

I was given the opportunity to shoot with the University of Iowa Shooting Sports Club these past few years. It in no way has ever been unsafe or unstructured, and I will forever look back on the memories of my time with the team fondly. Shooting Sports is a growing program and should not be shut down because some people fear guns. It is structured, safe, and a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in.

Gun safety is a continuing issue in our country. Why would you get rid of a club that promotes gun safety and allows youth to learn how to use weapons for things other than violent actions?

As a Simpson Alumnus I can say that I would have readily participated in such a club during my time there, and would have loved the opportunity to represent my school at any competition.

This is one sport that needs to be retained.
