WHY would you get rid of this program?!? This is a great program for youth to be involved in. Our son has done it for years and loves it. It teaches gun safety, goal setting, concentration, and comradery. Seriously. Who is more important here, the youth or the alumni? I will never consider Simpson college for my son. What a shame.

I really Hope and Pray that you go through with hiring a coach!! Not ALL students are athletic and this is SOMETHING they are good at and DESERVE to show their talent and go to a great school with the opportunity to continue what THEY ENJOY AND ARE GOOD AT! So for all the people out there that are against this, PLEASE get ALL OF THE FACTS and take your emotions out of it. My son comes out of his shell and focuses on his sporting clay shooting, it is like seeing a totally different child. Please reconsider what you are trying to take away from these kids! Thank you, Tammy Stephenson

Shooting sports are a great way for students to learn and compete in an age old tradition. Participation in these events should not be made political, this is America and we should be free to choose the sports, interests and passions that we choose. There is clearly a demand for this great program, it would be a gross political error to shut down based on a few people with an anti-gun sentiment.

You used the first Amendment to voice your opinion. Not sit back and support the rest of them including #2 and enjoy the rest of your day.

Gun Ownership does not lead to gun violence. Teaching America's youth about safe and responsible gun ownership will lead to safer communities and less violence.

I am a student at UNI, and I admire what you all are doing. Way to stand up to all the worrisome whiners who don't understand how fun and SAFE these sports are!

I safely participated in clay target shooting as a member of the Iowa State University shooting team for four years and also met my wife on said team. We continue to shoot to this day and have safely shot more than 200,000 targets together. Clay target sports are extremely safe, family oriented, and teach proper firearm safety. They are NOT related in any way to acts of violence committed by disturbed individuals.

I would have loved to have such a club when I was attending my alma mater.
