Firearm education, safety, and competition. Sounds like a something I would want my kids to be a part of. Don't let political motivation be a factor here.

These type of programs lead to the opportunity for these students to represent the United States at Olympic competitions. There is a proven track record for doing this. Anyone who associates these programs with gun violence is misinformed.

This is one of the only sports that everyone, no matter of shape or size, they can compete on a national level. Not only is this competition, but it teaches our youth about safety, leadership and history.

To the Honorable Board of Simpson College,
it would be a travesty to let a misguided opinion, formed in Washington DC by Mrs. Bentzinger, keep a fine group of young people from Iowa from growing in their pursuit of excellence through the clay target sports. As a youth coach for the Scholastic Clay Target Program in Connecticut I have witnessed the great accomplishments of program athletes on the field and in the class room in both high school and college competition. Yale, Harvard and MIT have shotgun teams, and I am positive that Simpson College will stand in good company with them. It is highly irresponsible to negatively link these young peoples efforts to safely pursue a sport the USA hold's Olympic Gold medals in both women's and men's divisions. In short if any thinking person in Iowa believes in their hart that collage age athletes can't be acountable to shoot skeet and trap under a coaches supervision these same students surely can't be trusted to run the world either. I believe you know better and I implore you to stand up for these fine young athletes and rest assured that they will carry on the tradition of leadership your state holds so dear.
Make the right choice and stand with the Ivy league by hiring a coach to guide the team in the responsible persuit of the sport.
