The structure you are proposing seems to be large enough to replace the DC General shelter with all of its inherent problems caused by the crowding of too many persons into an inadequate space and should be placed on a larger area of land.

Both the design and process for this homeless shelter are flawed and unacceptable. The site is CLEARLY too small to fit the building as currently proposed and it always has been. There were multiple other sites that would had the room to accommodate 50 families. This was not one of them! Either change the design to meet existing zoning laws or revisit the selection of the site altogether.

I oppose the short term shelter as it is too big for the space.

I'm signing this petition, not because I'm opposed to a homeless shelter in Brookland -- I'm not -- but because of the deplorable way Councilmember McDuffie selected this site without any notice to, much less input from, the ANC, the Civic Association, the RIA Main Street or immediate neighbors and because, less than 2 weeks away from the March 1 BZA hearing, I have yet to see any identification of issues that ANC Commissioner Makembe, Councilmember McDuffie or any other elected representative from the area intends to raise on behalf of the concerns of immediate residents. That tells me that either the elected representiatives from the area are willing to let this project go forward without neighborhood concerns being addressed or they're not willing to mount an effective effort to get them addressed.

The six story project is too tall for the surrounding houses. The lot is too small to have 55 families on the site. The design doesn't have enough parking or a loading dock separate from the houses. Also consider the nearby long time homeowners and their loss of property value. There was no notification by the city government that such a project is being planned so close to private homes.

So would both of these buildings be built or just the one on the right? The lot doesn't appear to be big enough for both buildings, so if they're just building the building on the right there would be nothing next to it because it's kind of a triangle shaped lot, correct?

For the resins outlined in this petition, I add my signature to protest the design as currently planned and submit my signature to request approval by DC govt be withheld until plans meet all zoning laws including but not limited to scale, parking, green space and other amenities

Shelter violates 7 zoning laws. Scale of building is too big. Homes near building will loose value. Unfair process by DHS and other city officials.

I do not support this design, lack of green space and complete lack of parking for this site. I support a shelter for families that does not provide additional services to non shelter occupants during the day, however this is not an appropriate/legal design for this site.

Once again, DC is mistreating Ward 5. We will not put up with this any longer.

Not enough space for this building. Concerned about the value of my home if this is built nearby.
