Keep the fair free and allow people to enjoy it. A few people who share an idea of how they pereceive 4-H animals are treated will ruin it for the many. Please don’t allow that to happen!

Born and raised in rural Johnson County, educated at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and damn proud of the Johnson county fair and what it offers to youngsters of all backgrounds from the county. Iowa City is a PART of Johnson county, not the other way around, and the COUNTY supervisors would be wise to continue the traditions of the Johnson County Fair.

Please keep the funding. You take these great programs and events they will lose the the values that American was built on. Does not matter about race creed or color. It gives these kids a sense of being apart of something. Maybe promote it get more kids to come in to it and try it.

Supporting 4-h ffa and other youth involved events is an important part of society. Bending to the whims of extremest groups does nothing but harm the general public.

I was in 4-H for a lot of years in school and still rodeo and have horses and compete. The husbandry that is learned in 4-H is important for many reasons, care, breeding, nutrition and other reasons. Rodeos help establish teamwork, and lasting love for all animals with no fear. I lived in Iowa 1968-2012.

My kids have been in 4-H clubs that have more than “white” kids in them. It is not a racist group. I think these clubs are very good for these kids of ALL races!

Leave our county fair's alone. These kids work hard in 4H and FFA . They deserve the rodeo at their fair.

4-H and rodeo mean so much more than you think from the outside looking in. 4-H aims to make the best better and encourages children and teens to keep improving and taking on challenges. It is so much more about the life skills and character development than the production and sale of animals. Rodeo as well is more about life than anything else because it is a humbling sport.

Johnson County 4H and cloverkids have been so beneficial to my children. It has taught them many things critical to improving life skills such as hard work, dedication, socialization, communications new skills and meeting many new people and friends from all walks of life. Providing funding to the 4H program and the county fair is so beneficial for the youth and society. As a parent who was not involved in 4H as a child, I have truly enjoyed having my children in 4H and wish I would have been a part of it as a child myself. The skills kids learn while in 4H will be carried with them for the rest of their lives and will make them better contributors to society in the long run. Taking this away would only hurt our youth more. As far as the family rodeo, I fully support it as it is a fun family event and the animals used are well taken care of as well as all animals being raised by 4Hers. Thank you.

As a lifelong citizen of Iowa, I expect the FFA/F-H organization/ county fair to be supported by the county supervisors. Very disappointed in Supervisor Porter’s uninformed statements.
