As an Occupational Therapist who sees many people in the community who rely on government support, I totally support this families application for residency. They are valuable members of a community who continue to give back to the community through their voluntary work but also within their own profession, helping others. They are an asset to the community and have proven that they can care for the needs of their son. To reject their visa on the ground of their son's disability is unfairly prejudice. This family is the type of family that should be accepted into Australia as permanent residents as they contribute to the local community and don't rely on our welfare system.

For this family not to be granted permanent residency is ridiculous. It is obvious that they will be able to support their child and they are active members of the community. To not let them in based on the mental health of their child is so un-Australian it's not funny. Have a heart and get past the "potential" financial risk.

This family contribute so much to our local community and are an asset to our community and society in so many ways. The personal difference that Sarah has made to our family cannot be overestimated and I could not imagine that we could even put a value on the contribution they have made to our family, our community and our society.

This family do more for teh community through their involvemnt with child education as a Age Group Leader at Noosa Surf Club and with their never too much approach to assisting others. These are the types we need in Australia to ensure we continue to deliver the best in community values.

A legal loophole that has the potential to lose a community supporting family to our country! It's ridiculous and should be reviewed!

Such a lack of compassion for this family who contribute so much to our local community, and an awful burden to their son to be responsible for their predicament. Disgusted. They pay their taxes and are financially independent, whilst our welfare system allows long-term recipients to contribute nothing and claim on our health system for self induced illness through poor lifestyle choices.

I have an adopted son and can not believe the government put so much weight on the health assessment when the family is hardworking and giving to the community in so many ways. Please support a family who is giving to Australia.

How can this be happening? Here is a family who are doing more than the average Australian family does for their community. They are educated & intelligent decent people & are doing sooooo much GOOD for their community as opposed to the hundreds of uneducated dole bludging people I deal with everyday in my work where people contribute NOTHING with one hand & hold their other hand out for Government support just because they CAN & they feel entitled to do so with absolutely NO thought of ever giving back!! This is ludicrous & ridiculous - LET THEM STAY!!

Somehow what the government is saying in the Citizenship booklet is not really authentic when it comes to the Grandison Family.
I support the Grandison's application for Citizenship and hope that they are not judged or excluded on Tom's health issues.
Perhaps we could petition the government to demonstrate its equality policy by accepting diversity (not perfection) in health as well as gender, skills etc.
