Please keep the Glens Falls Police Department. The citizens deserve proper police protection. Remember that are the city's First Responders. You need them.

It's about the safety of the people of Glens Falls. As a Hudson Falls village resident, we are pleased to have our own dept., and not have to depend on Washington County Sherriffs Dept.

I support the Glens Falls Police Department despite the number of tickets they've issued me. They are necessary!

As a Glens Falls Native I am completely shocked with Mayor Diamond's proposal to consolidate the city's policing agencies. This simply must not happen. As the statements said, doing so would take away the quick response time for emergency calls, as well as the core relationship between law enforcement and the community, which took decades to build I may add. This action if passed would only cause the city to deteriorate as the criminal element continue to matriculate from NYC. The drug epidemic would grow in an epic proportion. If you had a county who's jurisdiction is larger than a single city, how much do you think will slide by their watchful eye? I do not support the Mayors proposal for the sake of my family and friends still living in Glens Falls which I happen to believe is still Hometown USA!

As a former GF Police Chief, I was tasked with exploring this as well. I literally interviewed hundreds of people and Rarely came across anyone who supported it. I went to most business owners and they didn't support it. 15 local business owners came to the common council meeting and told the council they didn't support it. If it cost 4 million to have police, and the sheriff only need 3/4 of the department THER IS NO SAVINGS TO ANYONE. According to the DCJS repot, it cost 20K more for a deputy than a city cop so the pay is a wash. That means, Warren County residents are going to pay more. If you are a Glens Falls Resident, do you really think you will get a tax reduction? Finally, Glens Falls is a City. There are 62 cities in New York. EVERY ONE OF THEM HAS ITS OWN POLICE DEPARTMENT!! That's one of the things that make it a city. If you want a city, run it like a city and stop this nonsense. Support the awesome men and women of the Glens Falls Police! They have certainly earned it.
