Support the Demolition of the Hollins Hey Hotel (APP/18/01443)

Hi Hans, can I please ask how you know about the viability of the building's repair and reuse. There's no evidence with the application to explain this.

Hi Michael, sorry that you've suffered parking problems but hotels do sometimes generate traffic it's a measure of business success! There is no I indication that the building will become abandoned and clearly nobody wants that.

Hi Kieran, I fully appreciate you dad's personal circumstances and wish to retire aftwr such a long time serving the local community. Nonetheless, his circumstances are not, as a matter of law, matters which are relevant to the planning application's consideration.

Hi Phillip, there's no affordable housing proposed. I agree that energy consuption can be a problem in old buildings but if that was the only criteria we'd have demolished all of our old buildings by now!

Hi Clinton. Unfortunately planning applications are not decided on a head count of those for or against. They are decided on the development's allignment with planning policies. I don't know the Prenton case but I'm assuming that this is why residents lost out. The building is occupied and not derelict. In the unfortunate event that it was allowed to fall into dereliction then the Council have powers to step in and sort the problem out

Hello Joanne, as one of the neighbours can I please ask what am suppose to be jealous of? I am not opposed to the buildings reuse and to jump straight to it's demolition without considering it's reuse is wrong. It is also not in accordance with planning law or guidance, which is what the application must be judged against. These are the "rules" which must be followed. We (the 100 plus people opposed to the application) are not "frustrating" the application, merely doing what we are entitled to do, which is comment on what is planned; which, in my view, is woeful in terms of its appearance and would be harmful to the local area. I acknowledge that new homes would be delivered, which in a very small way might reduce pressure on other land, but this shouldn't be at the expense of a loss of a heritage asset and poor design.

This application adheres to all advice and suggestions required and should be granted. Much needed housing and easing a parking problem just two benefits.

This hotel should be knocked down before it falls down, the owners have tried every option and now its time to finally call time! It seems the planning application has been frustrated by jealous neighbours... the same neighbours who complain when there is an event on and there is loads of cars parked. Follow the rules and move on with this redevelopment now.

I am a local resident and fully support the petition. As it says, all areas have been explored and the best option is to move forward with extra housing.

Local housing needed

It would be criminal to demolish this hotel. It is part of our history. New Brighton needs suitable accommodation to continue to flourish and the locals need it too!
