Final supporters
The lively tradition of The Southdown and Eridge Hunt has met at the White Hart in Lewes on Boxing Day seen by thousands who collect in the High Street to enjoy the wonderful spectacle. Since the Hunting Act 2004 the hunt has been trail laying enabling the riders and followers to watch hounds and enjoy the countryside with the grateful permission of the landowners.
This legal sport is being undermined by a minority being against tradition and the countryside showing their prejudice and hate against a section of society
Please sign to endorse your support for the Southdown and Eridge Hunt and to thank Lewes District Council for allowing the closure of the High Street for a short duration on the day so that thousands of townsfolk can appreciate the sight and sounds of this occasion. The town benefits hugely on this occasion. The Riders and hounds will leave the High Street to follow a scent trail on the Downs after the meet.

I have relatives who live in Eastbourne, and every year we visit Lewes for the Boxing Day Meet - and stay for lunch at a local hotel - please don't stop this wonderful English tradition!
Everyone loves to see the hounds & horses on Boxing Day my family have been going to Boxing Day meets for years. It is a wonderful sight on lewes high street long may it continue!
I don't like fireworks or torchlit processions, but I wouldn't want it banned from Lewes. It's a tradition that many thousands of people enjoy. The same applies to the Boxing Day Meet.
we go to see the hunt move off every Boxing Day, usually with our Xmas guess. Last year they were from Australia and were so impressed with our traditions. I as proud to be British. Please keep it for the next generation, it is so well supported
The Southdown and Eridge Hunt have met in Lewes on Boxing Day for many years, they are engaged in a legal activity and it makes sense to close the road briefly. Freedom of speech is still legal in this country.
This is a tradition, relating to a legal sport, that provides colour and pleasure to many people, year after year
