I support Sam, his community involvement, and his use of the proceeds to support the food bank.

A kid doing a good thing should not be treated like this.

I think we should encourage youth not deter them.

Children learning how to build and engineer is an essential skill we need for the future. Allowing one cantankerous neighbor prevent Sam and his friends from building the haunted house, and sharing it with other young people is a travesty.

Sam's haunted house project exemplifies the best of Albany: community, generosity and fun. His critics exemplify the worst: a concern for nobody but themselves.

I wish every kid would do something this constructive with his/her time. Now someone just needs to underwrite the costs so all the money goes to charity. To the neighbors: Hey if the kid had more help maybe he wouldn't have to start so early. Supportive neighbors USED to be an Albany standard.

As a kid Sam's age, me and my friends also created a haunted house. It was a pretty big deal at the time, to feel good at creating special effects, street theater, and working together with friends to do something epic with a deadline (halloween). I do creative work today as a career in part because I was supported in my early haunted house endeavors. Help bring back haunted house tradition from the dead!! Kids need it!

Why shut something down that helps the community? Let the kid continue his dreams and learn skills that will help him in life.

Hello from Albany, NY! I'm shocked that someone would want to shut down something that helps support those less fortunate in their own community!

As a parent of young kids (age 4), I totally support creativity and community altruism. This young man should be applauded. He is doing something for the greater good.

If this complaint is allowed to be honored, where will it stop? People would not be able to do large scale decorating if a neighbor complained. As a former Albany resident, this kind of attitude is one of the reasons I moved from your really wonderful city. This is NIBYism at it's finest. Please do the right thing and let the haunt proceed.
