This is very important for all of the Sylmar families.

If the people of Wilmington can get county, state and federal assistance for low level lead contamination of the soil, the people of Porter Ranch city, county, state and federal assistance for short term natural gas exposure, and the people of Flint Michigan get the attention of presidential candidates, plus state and federal assistance, why is everyone silent when Sylmar people are actually dying (As did Barbara Weisbarth) because it takes 15 minutes to get an ambulance to the house in an emergency? I had to drive my wife to the hospital myself because it is much faster than waiting for an ambulance. How many people have to die waiting for emergency response before the city provides us with the life saving service we pay for?

This is a matter of life or death. Don't just think of fires. Think of emergency medical services. Children, Parents, Spouse, Yourself, & your Neighbors!

I Wholeheartedly Agree that the community needs this new Fire station, Does the City and County not know that we are in a Fire Hazard Area

This could have kept the Station Fire from spreading so far and so fast!

Please give the firefighters the proper tools to do their jobs now, not after a major incident or catastrophe. Be proactive, not reactive. Thank you.

If this was Encino we wouldn't be signing a petition they would already have another station.

Mello Roos fees are paid every year, and there has been nothing in return. These fees are supposed to go towards "public works and services" in the area they are levied, so I'd like to see some return on this investment in the Sylmar area.

The Mayor and the City Council need to keep in mind that many of the signatories to this Petition are stakeholders within the Legends at Cascades Community of 176 Condo Units and are being assessed a heavy Mello Roos Tax, pursuant to City of Los Angeles Community Facilities District No. 8 (CFD-8) 17 SEP 2007, and increased Fire and Medical Emergency services were part of that Mello Roos Tax and we even had the City "promising" Station 31, which never materialized. The NEED and JUSTIFICATION for an addition Fire Station is not in question.

We have been paying double property taxes for this fire station for years. We need action.

We were promised Station 31 over some 6 years ago with a great photo op picture of LAFD and City Politicians that we would have this new station and sorely needed increased assets ... and the Sayre Fire proved the critical nature of our need and since that time, reponse time have continued to be below any reasonable standard.

The need for these increased assets and an additional station have been well establish and we in Symar are greater underserved compare to anywhere else in the City of Los Angeles.
