This action sets a dangerous precedent. The Council should be ashamed about how they are skirting environmental law and existing codes. Special interest groups are being given more of a voice than their own constituents.

High Density outside downtown Winslow is a "sprawling" mistake. If the city council chooses to value development over water resources, added school traffic congestion (good luck kids, hope no one gets hit walking or biking to school). Then let it be no more than the zone R-2 suggested here. Nice affordable family homes, not cracker box condos. Affordable housing families shouldn't be forced to live in a cracker box condos.

Let's leave the zoning as is. High density doesn't serve the community or the environment and will change this area in many negative ways. Let's pass on the island we love to our kids.

High density housing at Suzuki will not serve its intended residents well even if you ignore the many negative impacts on the existing communities nearby. The lack of nearby services (except for schools which also be negatively impacted) will simply trigger more car trips and make a difficult situation worse. Permitting high density housing would be a real disservice to the new residents and probably not accomplish the purported objective of creating a community for BI employees.

As a BI resident for nearly 20 years, I agree with this petition. Bainbridge is not really suited to a lot of high density housing. With the schools, North Town Woods and Commodore in that area, current traffic and environmental impact is at its maximum. We simple do not have the resources or infrastructure to acomodate high density housing.

It is clear that the will of the people of Bainbridge is not being heard. This property should not be sold under the current agreement or plan and should be held for use which meets the consensus of the majority.

It's short sighted not to reserve this property for the future needs of the school district. The last thing we need is another 10 acres of boxes, the sort that are completely changing the character of Bainbridge Island despite the loud protests of residents.
