As a Jewish alumni who was able to visit Israel through our Hillel I am shocked and saddened by our administrations attempt to silence peaceful protests that are standing up to genocide. Look we all know those who committed the attacks last fall are evil and no one is defending their actions. Further it is hard to ascertain an accurate account of what is happening on the ground in Gaza but a line has been crossed by the Israeli government. It’s as clear as day this response is not going to bring those captive back home and is simply an attempt to “wipe them all out.” This is genocide plain and simple. And it’s because those in charge of Israel want to fight and idea. It’s not possible to destroy an idea, that what Hamas is an idea, a school of thought. You won’t and can’t go to war with thoughts. So saying you will destroy hamas is not possible and all attempts to continue should be aborted. I will stop my rant, but please let your students protest peacefully and stop harassing and threatening them. This will only cause more problems when it is solutions that are needed. Thanks for your time.

Goucher students have a long history of protest. We must support these students and give space for their activism. Goucher also owes it to all alumni and students to be transparent about its investments. Please listen, consider and adopt these student demands!

It is because of the lessons I learned at Goucher, and the lessons I learned from my family members who survived the Holocaust, that I fiercely oppose the genocide of Palestinians by the state of Israel. As an alumni of Goucher, I am no longer proud to be represented by a university that unequivocally supports Israel.

Tens of thousands of men, women and children have been mercilessly killed! This is a genocide and must be condemned! No supporting Israel! Palestine deserves everything we can do to help show them light; we can’t let them die away

As a parent who has supported Goucher with not only my child's tuition but through Goucher fundraising campaigns. My child chose Goucher because of GPEP. That program signified to us that Goucher was a place of distinction, action, and equity. At the parent "orientation" when my child arrived on campus as a freshman, we were told to encourage our kids to "get comfortable being uncomfortable". They encouraged us to let them grow into their own individuals forming options based on individual learning and experiences. That they would grow by being able to have civil discourse with people they don't agree with. We were assured that this was the place. You are failing these children. As an adult society, we want and NEED them to demonstrate and protest instead of spewing hate and vitriol online like most of our country. We NEED them to learn that change can happen peacefully. You need to reconsider, and that is a mild assertion, your policy of violating their 1st amendment rights under the guise of private property or safety. Young adults peacefully protesting does not constitute a safety concern. But it is quickly becoming a PR nightmare for you. Allow two voices to be heard. Anti-war is not anti-Semitic, it is antiwar. Same as the children at Kent had law enforcement called on them to silence and suppress them, yet as we know that escalated. Regardless of what stand you take on the war, please stop silencing peaceful protests.
