I have always supported the SRO in the Easthampton schools while my son attended. He graduated in 2011 but the school was a much better, safer place with the officer there. I wish we had been able to have one when I was in EHS from 1981-1985. It would be a huge mistake to remove the position.

The right officer who is well versed in dealing with children and community policing will be an asset to the school. The amount of students that will be in attendance once the new school opens is huge. I think having an officer helps ensure the safety of the students and staff.

Youth today can use as much guidance outside of the home with everything happening in today’s society. SRO,s are highly trained and are a huge help dealing with many issues that the youth are dealing with today!! They should be in every cities schools!!

People don’t realize that the SRO position, in any agency, is THE busiest position as far as calls for service go than any other. To think one officer can handle K-12 is insane. Burnout will set in and an experienced officer will choose to go back to patrol because they need a break.
We need you
