Support Roseburn-West Coates Protected Cycle Route

The direct would be used more than route 1, I walked route 1 yesterday (from roseburn to haymarket) and I don't think cyclists would use it if coming from roseburn to the city centre.

As a cyclist a car driver user of public transport and pedestrian I support this initiative

Looks really worthwhile. Would like something similar for South Edinburgh too.

NCN 1 between Roseburn and Haymarket is scary and convoluted. The direct route proposed is far superior. Morever modifying the road layout will make things more pleasant for pedestrians due to reduced traffic speeds and increased separation from motor vehicles

Long overdue.

Providing segregated cycling facilities is essential to entice less confident commuters onto the roads. This is a reasonable start for a particularly poor section of main thoroughfare.

I support this scheme. It's about time the NEPN was connected to the city centre in a proper and segregated matter.

It's absurd that we're even considering not doing this in the year of our Lord 2015.

This is an excellent scheme that will transform the pedestrian and cycling environment. It will to a great deal to further the Council's active travel targets.

Cyclists should be able to use the most direct routes and these should be safe and comfortable for cyclists of all ages and abilities. The objections are unfounded.

I strongly support this proposal. My significant other (who is not confident cycling on busy roads) refuses to cycle into the city from our home in Coltbridge due to issues with reaching the existing cycle route (Balbirnie Place), with crossing of the tram-tracks and with the convergence of trams, buses and cars at Haymarket. I've shown her the proposal and she has indicated that it would be enough to get her on her bike!

More cycling lanes and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, please!

this is badly needed and very welcome from the majority of cycle users and pedestrians in the local area, we need to move beyond the "car is king" mentality of Edinburgh, the cars have got bigger, not the streets, and not the bikes...

Strongly support this plan from the council. It needs to make the choice to cycle much easier than the choice to drive.

I strongly support this proposal. Segregated infrastructure, when properly built, is proven to work extremely well in other cities, e.g. Netherlands, New York, Vancouver etc.

Studies show that in a situation like this traffic does NOT simply become every more congested, but tends to marginally disappear. Drivers use other routes or change transport modes. The easier and more attractive it becomes to cycle to more people will cycle. That's been demonstrated time and again. It will also benefit pedestrians by adding distance between them and polluting vehicle exhausts.

Safe, direct cycle routes are the way forward. The plan will also benefit people on foot.
