I strongly support the proposed, more direct route of the cycle path. I believe that this will encourage cycling, reduce traffic, and improve the local environment / local air quality.

Convenience is one of the fundamental decision factors when people choose their mode of transport. Only when cycling is convenient and feels safe can the majority of the population chose it. Therefore the route needs to run along Roseburn Terrace. Segregated and protected cycle paths are the way forward. Painted lanes and advance stop zones are routinely ignored by motorists and a waste of money. Invest in improving and joining up the off-road network, with protected/segregated lanes where required, and the revolution will happen.

These proposals will significantly improve cycling provision in Edinburgh, leading to a healthier, happier, cleaner living environment for all of us.

I'm a commuter who used to take the bus along this route but got so fed up with the congestion, especially in the summer months, that I decided to cycle into work. Initially wanting to make my journey as quick as possible I would cycle from Corstorphine along the Glasgow Rd/Haymarket/Morrison St, however the level of traffic, resultant pollution, trams and near misses has caused me to cycle via the Union Canal on the shared tow path instead, although this adds about 10mins to my commute my nerves and no doubt lungs are the better for it. If this scheme comes to fruition I look forward to giving it my support.

No one wants to see small shops suffer or go out of business. Cycle parking alone the cycle path, near the shops at Roseburn, would encourage business. The shops should not be so afraid of change. Some change is clearly needed anyway, as indicated by the number of closed units.

I cycle this route everyday - often feeling unsafe and intimidated by passing traffic. Please let's get on and do this. Stop prioritising the private car.

Anything that makes the roads safer for cyclists is welcome. There is too much antagonism towards cyclists on the Edinburgh streets despite the fact that most cyclists are also walkers and motorists,

The number of cars in Edinburgh is a huge and growing problem. We can't go on like this and any measures which will encourage other forms of transport have to be supported.

The safer it is for cyclists on the roads the more likely it is people will abandon their cars and start to use their bikes. I include myself in this. We need more cycle paths. Less pollution and a healthier public as a result.

Support this long overdue scheme.

I wholeheartedly support anything that will make Edinburgh's roads safer for cycling.

I think it likely that some businesses, particularly cafes, will see increased business as a result of more cycling. We need to provide more space for cyclists to encourage less confident cyclists and younger cyclists. Safety is a huge issue.

A route East-West that bypasses the Haymarket/West-End bottleneck is crucial for getting active transport up to the council goal by 2020

This would be a welcomed addition to edinburghs roads.
