Completely in favour of linking up the west/east/north Edinburgh cycle routes

Roseburn is constantly congested by cars and trucks parked illegally. Cyclists must be protected!

The proposed route is a better alternative for cyclists - anyone who says otherwise has clearly neither looked at the proposals, nor cycled the alternative route - not only do people have to cross the tram lines, go down narrow paths through a local housing estate but they also have to negotiate the zig zags next to Haymarket depot - the proposals are a more direct and high quality route for sure. The opposition seems based upon selfishness and ignorance of the economic benefits that more cyclists and pedestrians will bring to the area.

There will always be objections from some motorists when changes impinge on their perceived right to access the whole carriageway. Both as a motorist and a cyclist I do believe the benefits to both pedestrians and cyclists, and shopkeepers, would outweigh the small disadvantage to motorists.

This will enhance the area, and make it more attractive to pedestrians who unlike motorists will look in shop windows and be enticed in

Time to get to grips with environmental pollution in Edinburgh. We must encourage more cycle use.

The shopkeepers won't lose business. Build the path.

We need to make it safer for people to get out of their cars

I cycle a lot in Edinburgh, but find the centre too dangerous in a lot of parts. Along Haymarket, West End and Leith Street for instance. Edinburgh would be a nicer place for all if more people would cycle instead of drive.

I welcome any way of avoiding the dangerous tramlines at Haymarket and on Princes Street

Absolutely welcomed news. I hope they build these safer routes and don't pander to the noisy (and polluting) car lobby!
