THIS IS NOT AN EVENT YOU CAN ATTEND. THIS IS A WEEK LONG CAMPAIGN THAT BY "VOLUNTEERING/SIGNING UP" IT WILL SHOW THAT YOU WILL BE SUPPORTING THE CAUSE. SEE INFO BELOW.

Join the Richland County Young Marines effort in spreading awareness about drug addiction and Awareness. Our Richland County Young Marines are requesting that you sign up below to show your support on creating a drug free environment.

To join our Young Marines in our effort, we ask that you virtually sign up to spread awareness; as well as, like and share our posts during that week when you see anything related to our anti-drug campaign. You are also encouraged to wear a Red Ribbon during this week and make your Facebook profile pic as a Red Ribbon image for the entire week, beginning October 23rd, 2015.

For more info and the meaning of Red Ribbon Week, please read below:

One of the primary nationwide events that Young Marines participate in is Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week represents a national anti-drug effort and awareness campaign observed annually in October throughout the United States.

Red Ribbon Week began after the kidnapping, torture and murder of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985. Camarena, a former Marine, worked against traffickers bringing illegal drugs into the United States. In his memory, citizens of his hometown of Calexico, California donned red ribbons in his honor; the red ribbon became a symbol for prevention in order to reduce the demand for illegal drugs.

According to the Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Family Partnership, approximately 80 million people participate in Red Ribbon events every year. Please show your support for Red Ribbon Week 2015 and Young Marines staying drug-free by signing our petition! Oo-Rah!!!
