PT is easily the best valued educational system in Western, PA, perhaps the state. We choose to raise our kids in this community not because of the fancy schools or amenities but because the teachers were the best of the best and cared about the kids. A teacher can't even get an interview in PT unless they have over a 3.5 gpa...it's 99% a culture of excellence.
The only way to inspire this kind of success in the future is to help the staff advance their lives financially. You can't expect a work force to feel inspired to produce top level results if you diminish their individual ability to provide for their families...take them forward, take care of them, become a model for the state...we can do that.
PT needs leadership that unites our community to solve a very complex problem. Stop polarizing us. Get back to "building a community of lifetime learners"...the relationship between the community, the school board and the teachers must be "a partnership for excellence"...

I want to point out that most of us signing this petition live in McMurray and Venetia. I have heard that many of the parents feel that we are not living in this community, we are! Many community members are extremely supportive of the teachers!

It's a shame that people are missing the big picture and long term benefits, and focusing on the temporary inconvenience of the strike. I keep hearing that teachers from other states, other districts would love to have what our teachers have. They would leave their schools to work in ours. Clearly, something is wrong in their schools. It's not because we do too much for our teachers, it's because they do too little. We don't want our teachers to be the ones admiring other schools and wishing for those jobs. If we don't show our teachers that we value them, they will be the ones leaving and eventually all the educators standing in line to get into our school district will go elsewhere. Look to other states, where teachers are unhappy, underpaid and undervalued. That's not where Peters Township wants to end up.

The misleading rhetoric used by school districts in their portrayals of teacher demands is appalling.

My sister is a teacher here and from the start her work day has extended well past normal "business" hours. She puts in many additional hours to make sure her lessons are interesting and motivating. Her class size has always been large and her determination for student success larger!

As a fellow educator and graduate of PTHS, I commend your efforts for staying strong during adversity and holding true to your beliefs in doing what is best for students! I went into this profession thanks to a myriad of highly qualified teachers from Peters Twp School District! Thank you for all you do! I
