Our friend Patton was physically and mentally abused by his ex-girlfriend, who forced him to resume their relationship after he broke up with her. Over several conflicts, she assaulted him multiple times and he never fought back. Only on one occasion did he resist in an attempt to restrain her, and she called ECPD on him. As a result, he was put in lock-up and wrongly expelled from school.

Emerson College failed to conduct a proper and thorough investigation. They did not contact witnesses, nor did they consider Patton's counter-claim when he tried to file it with ECPD. They kicked him out of his housing on campus, and did not provide any residential accommodations despite having it in writing in their policies. As an international student it can be even harder to source accommodation, and the school failed to take this into account as well.

Our petition will be sent to the administration responsible.

If you know Patton, you know he could never hurt another person. Please add your name to let Emerson College know how they have failed in their duty to protect their students, and that they should rescind their expulsion of Patton.
