I feel like we've been robbed of maternity leave and that me and my baby have missed out on so much during lockdown. Online classes are great but they don't offer the same developmental experience my baby needs or the support from other mothers. I'll be back at work in the January and want to make the most of the precious time I have left with my baby.

My daughter is thriving due to her baby classes. The first lockdown was announced when she was 5 weeks old. She never got other “human” contact until lockdown was eased and all she did was scream when her nana held her and did for quite a while and now we’re back at square one. Please let the baby classes continue as I fear child mental health figures is going to go out of the roof!

This is so important for me and my baby as she is only used to being at home and not good for her early development

Having a baby whist in a pandemic was already hard and being able to take my baby to this classes made everything a bit normal so please let us continue.

My baby classes are vital for myself and my daughter, I attended 4 different groups each week and each one had worked so hard to be Covid safe. My daughter barely knows my family due to this situation and I can't see them for support so my baby groups are a reason to get up and dressed in the morning. I'm really dreading the next month

Baby born at the peak of this pandemic. Getting to go to groups when they reopened helped my mental health so much. I’m heart broken at the thought of being alone again

It is so important that support is given to new mums and their babies. In a year that has failed to deliver fundamental services, no ante natal classes, no partners allowed at scans etc, a new mum has had little support during her pregnancy. The sessions run are well within guidelines having been risk assessed and as safe or safer than going to a supermarket, which will remain open as they are deemed essential. Is not a new mother and her baby's welfare essential? This must be classed as a support group, especially when so much is talked about mental health, the mental health of a new mother worth must be worth supporting? I wholeheartedly back this petition!

You talk about ‘education’ staying open. These baby classes are the early start to education our babies get. Every class I have attended have adhered to social distance. They are vital for babies development and mums well being

Baby classes are so important when all other contact is being cut off!! I am now stuck home alone with a 6 month old from 7am until 6pm. At a time when jer development and social skills are crucial

Can’t believe these classes have been overlooked. If I had already gone back to work now then my baby would be mixing with staff and other babies in nursery yet we aren’t allowed to attend classes where we are miles apart from each other and strict hand hygiene is enforced! Those who have never been new mums no doubt think ‘oh it’s a bit of singing nursery rhymes and playing instruments’ but they clearly have no idea how vital the support is for mums and the interaction is for baby’s development.
