Parents need to be able to discuss their kids' learning needs, challenges and successes with teachers. We need parent-teacher conferences.

Yes, there should be teacher led parent/teacher conferences. Kids have enough to do as it is and it is the teacher's job to give feedback to the parents. When the kids lead the conference, the parents only gets 5% of the information they are seeking. While we appreciate the creativity to try new methods, the student led conferences just did not cut it.

I want to hear from the teachers! If child is going to present I think that should be done before the conference.

This is one of the few opportunities to really talk to teachers. As a working parent, I have been frustrated by teachers unwillingness to make phone calls outside of school hours.

I think parent teacher conferences should be back, but add what was introduced this year and include the students presentations.

Yes, students should absolutely reflect on their progress, but not at the expense trained educator reflections. I'm so confused: why can't we do both? Thank you for bringing sanity back to our schools and allowing adults to speak with adults about the children we are raising together as a village.

As an educator myself, I see a lot of value in parent-teacher conferences. I think it's an important opportunity for parents and the teacher to meet and talk one-on-one (as opposed to a Meet-the-Teacher event for all parents of students in the class).

We will not be attending next year's student led conferences or any in the future. As a former teacher I looked forward to sitting down one on one with my children's parents or guardians. It gave me an insight into my students and it was really nice to talk with the parents about how they felt about school when they were at home. This was a huge waste of time for both student and parent. How much school time was used to prepare for this when it could have been use for more important educational purposes. This was insulting to me as a parent. Where is the teacher accountability here.

My daughter is in eighth grade so we won't be at Sandburg next year but I do believe a lot of crucial information about students performance and struggles are lost without parent-teacher conferences.

I feel there already is a natural drop of communication which exists heading into middle school vs elementary school. The majority of parent information is accessed via teachers websites mainly. Of course the teachers are wonderful and quick with responding to parents emails which has been very beneficial. However, parent teacher conferences afford us one opportunity for face to face communication. The student led conferences are a novel and great idea but does not compare to the academic, social and developmental information gained from parent led conferences.

As a parent, I want to meet my child's teacher and hear direct feedback. Technology is great but it doesn't replace human interaction.

I would like the parent-teacher conferences brought back this year. The children spent a lot of time preparing for the student led conferences when they could have used that time learning or studying. There was also no need to even come in to Sandburg for the student led conferences. They could have been done at our homes.

I need to talk to my child's teachers. I think that the child-run conference should be in addition to the parent-teacher conference. It is important for the parents to talk to the teachers directly and hear their input.
