I would like the opportunity to talk to my child's teacher during conferences. Students can give their presentations in addition to parent/teacher conferences, but not in place of them.

As I was unaware of this (not currently having children at Sandburg), I thought this was a petition done in parody when I first read it. Student-led conferences? Is the school suddenly too lazy to arrange and administer parent-teacher sessions? What possible explanation could they plausibly offer otherwise? It's too much of a burden to communicate with the taxpayer (that is to say, the customer)? Maybe a vote of no confidence is in order. Very poor optics here.

I did not learn anything new with the student led conference. Bring back the old conferences.

Bottom line, cmmunication is key.

Teacher input is vitally important to the conferences. I do agree that the student should attend/have input for the conference, but do not think the student should LEAD the conference. Much is gained from face-to-face contact with the teachers, and I do not want to see that go away.

The concept of student led conferences has potential, however the execution at Sandberg this year was very poor. The overall lack of quality communication between teachers and parents needs to be addressed.

We really get no information from the student-led conferences. We really need to hear from the teachers. Please bring back the teacher conferences.

I have a 7th grader at Sandburg and was very disappointed this year at the lack of information from and interaction with my child's teachers.

This time with my kids teachers offers me valuable insight on how to partner with educators to get the best out of my children. Strongly disagree with this direction

Conferences are a critical part of being involved in our kids' education. It's essential for me to put a face with a name as I help my children navigate this middle school stage of almost-independence!

Please reconsider this format for conferences and possibly make this an activity for the kids the second half of the school year instead of as a total replacement for real parent teacher conferences.

I really wanted to hear from the teachers how my daughter was doing. What she needed help with, where strengths are. It used a lot of seminar time that could have been used to get teacher help for missed, sick days or confusing topics. It wasn't very helpful.

I think the student led conferences were a huge waste of time all the way around. The prep which took away from instructional time, to the evening spent listening to my daughter tell me what we already knew.

Talking with my children's teachers really gave me a better perspective on the attention required at home. Give us the choice to pick and choose which teachers we need to speak to.

Please bring back the parent-teacher conferences. I think the new student lead conferences were a waste of time.

I believe middle school is a critical period in the academic, social and emotional development of our children. The input teachers can provide in that development is invaluable both in the short and long term growth of our kids.

I urge Sandburg to bring back traditional parent-teacher conferences. I was disappointed not to have had the opportunity to meet with my child's teachers individually, which I find highly beneficial.

I would much rather talk to each teacher than hear how my kid thinks they are doing in each class

I believe this is very important to have teacher parent conferences

So disappointed that parent/teacher conferences are not resuming. Student led conferences could be maintained but only in addition to parents meeting with the teachers. I do not believe these were productive this year.
