Just because student-led is easier for the teachers doesn't make it better. I learned absolutely nothing new. Very disappointing.

Sandburg conferences were horrible - in addition, the kids wasted valuable instructional time preparing for this meeting. Taking this a step further, Is rather meet with three teachers for 10 minutes thank 6 teachers for 5 minutes. Mirror the York process!!!!!!

Please bring back parent teacher conferences. There is a disconnect between me and my child's teachers that makes it difficult to work together for his best interests.

Parents are the customers and have the right to hear from each of their students' teachers face-to-face. Coordinate the final grades with the date of the conferences too, obviously (this year, some of my child's grades weren't even finalized in early Oct). Fine to have the child give input or to present, but teachers need to be the main part of the equation.

I would be in favor of traditional parent-teacher conferences (double for English since it is a double period) in the fall with a student-led conference in the spring. Otherwise there is no one-on-one, face-to-face conference at any time during the year.

The Student-Parent conferences told me nothing about my child's progress. I need that info from the teacher.

Student led conferences, as they were this fall, were not effective. I garnered no helpful information and my student found it a huge waste of time.

I want the face-to-face interaction with each of my child's teachers! I did not see the benefit of the student-led conferences for me or my children.

I'd like to get feedback from each teacher. There is limited contact with them throughout the year, so even 5 minutes each is helpful.

Even being a former teacher and realizing the amount of time and energy spent on conferences, I still believe getting the teachers input is invaluable and necesssary, especially with the core class teachers. The student led conferences did not provide the opportunity for necessary communication.

I fully support this petition. I attended the student-led conferences this fall and did not find them to be valuable. I discuss school progress, goals and achievements with my child regularly. I always find value in hearing from the teachers and getting their insights on my child as a learner.

I support conferences with my student's individual teachers.

Found the session to be unproductive. Ended up contacting a couple of teachers directly to discuss issues.

I strongly support parent/teacher conferences, and I object to conferences that are student led. They were completely subjective, as well as being canned and overly formulaic. I am not interested in attending a meeting to hear my child's perceptions about her progress. We can discuss this at home. What's more, valuable instruction time was wasted creating the power point presentations.
