This is a big expense for a small non-profit veterans organization. States should be supporting these organizations, not driving them out of business. Wake up! Let's repeal this ridiculous surcharge.

The $700.00 surcharge was a major factor for my post to close the bar.

The $700 HB 1901 Liquor Surcharge Fee is funding that could be given back to our community (e.g., fire or police departments or scholarships earned in American Legion Scholastic programs by deserving youth). HB 1901 negatively impacts our ability to do this as a 501(c)(19) non-profit.

Please take into serious consideration the waiver of the $700 for American Legion Posts. These posts spend a significant portion of funds to help veterans who are hospitalized or homeless!

I represent 25 Legion Posts of Schuylkill County as the 13th District Commander. The $700 surcharge added to the Liquor License is hurting the Post that have grills from raising funds for programs locally and as well at Department level. We have a hard enough time trying to raise these funds and pay our bills and required building insurances and be burdened to pay Total of $1.100 liquor licenses. Some of my Posts have closed the Grills due to this. Other non-profit Organizations are having the same issue in my County . Please repeal this. Thank you

Legion Post #475 does not own a facility or a bar so it should not have to pay a liquor surcharge.

Please repeal The $700.00 surcharge as all small veterans organizations have limited income and the money we don’t spend to survive as a post goes into the community and to Veterans.

Legions do a lot of good things for the communities and Veterans organizations. Why would anyone jeopardize that valuable assistance?

As a District (29) Commander I fully see the hardship this can cause our American Legion. OUr posts can not afford this $700 cost !
