Support Our Subs (S.O.S.)

This is so short sighted. We need to put energies into how we can use it more! It is the centre of our town. I'm appalled at the closure of the cafe and the strange circumstances. Is this accountable governance? I don't think so.

This is the heart of Stroud and must be saved. It's a beautiful venue and a great place to host events that bring the community together.

I used to go to gigs in the Subs as a teenager. It's a great building, central and essential to Stroud.

The sub rooms belongs to the community!

This is a ridiculous decision and must be stopped. The Subs is an integral cultural part of Stroud and should be saved at all costs for the benefit of the arts and future generations

Stroud needs an artistic focal point. And given that it is also a ballroom, it can serve as dancing that is health give, and more fun than jogging. Concert with a varied genres. It is a respectable venue, and the community that is Stroud benefits from that. We understand the financial situation, but paramount is that the freehold remains with community as per wish of the city fathers of yore. And it should remain as a performance venue.

SDC have to develop an arts strategy first before any Subs. Future decisions are made. The annual running cost figure of 415k p.a. Is incorrect..it's much lower if Ebley Mill overheads are removed. Is SDC consulting with subs staff about its future?

The Sub., rooms are a brilliant Venue, for many events & should be retained as a Function place for Stroud for many more years! :-)

You have to keep the Sub Rooms. What would you do with it if you got rid of it - hand it over to yet more private group to turn into 'executive homes'? It's a fantastic resource, and the actual name, Subscription Rooms, means it should be kept in public ownership!

I don't live in stroud but visit the Sub rooms for concerts and other events

A building geographically and spiritually and historically at the heart of Stroud's Community. Isn't that worth protecting?

at a cost of under £500,000 per annum this central community facility is reasonable. Given a secure future and support instead of threats from the SDC it could do better and cost less. Cirencester is an example of how easy it is to lose cinemas and theatres .

I would be horrified if this wonderful community amenity closed. We need more, not fewer amenities like this. Don't take the heart out of Stroud.

It would be a disaster to lose such a community asset.

I think with a bit of imagination there could be more use of this excellent facility so it can pay its way.
