I consider our service vans are our shop front, just on wheels. This is where our tradies interact with the public everyday so regardless of admin or workshop premises businesses such as ours should be eligible for this assistance.

Been running our small business from our 20 acre block for 36 years. Business is seperate to residence with seperate entrance. How is this different to a shopfront? Business has ground to a halt since social distancing has been in place.

Most shopfronts are rented so no point for a leasee to pay for 10k worth of improvements to their landlords premises..

We're on the cusp of expanding our tradie business and were hoping to upgrade some equipment and purchase a trailer to better service our local clients. Talking to other similar businesses we've all said we'd get the same things built/upgraded. We don't have an office as we allow all of our admin staff (locals, not outsourced/overseas) to work remotely from their homes also. With the amount of small businesses in Darwin that are excluded from this purely because they don't OWN a brick and mortar premises, this whole grant seems like smoke and mirrors and will only cater to small few (most of them big businesses already). This grant needs revision to INCLUDE, not EXCLUDE most of Darwin's businesses.

100% agree. My transport company can’t access this grant because we don’t have a shop front. Our business is on wheels and is run from a truck yard. Doesn’t mean we can’t make improvements to our business! Given what we pay in tax and exorbitant truck registrations we should be eligible for something.

The terms of this has affected my "home based" business as well as a family member whom runs from a separate part of her home.
The terms need to revised!

We run a Camper Trailer Hire business from our house in Howard Springs. We have been operating for 10 years now and the grant would be a great help to improve our business ready for next season as this year is done for us all ready.

The govt should allow home based businesses. It’s the only fair way to go!
