Merton council could learn a lot from Wandsworth! If you don t know how to run a council just copy others ans stop wasting money and residents time. When we were living in Wandsworth we never had to even think about bins!

No regular days kept although given on the website hence rubbish put out on supposed day of collection only to be strewn all over the road by foxes an having to continually picked up. Utter mess to our roads because of poor service which we are paying for.

It is a disgrace, the first week we had two people emptying the giant bins by hand because there were no lorries to do it. Last week our recycling day was Friday they picked up on Tuesday. The bins look absolutely hideous, and moving them into place is a nightmare for us older folks. Weekly collections insure clean streets now our streets are looking dirty through non or delayed collection. Blocking the path for prams and wheelchairs .

The bins are unsightly and costly and from all the evidence there is no benefit derived from the new recycling policy. `it is a waste of residents' money.

Ridiculous reduction in quality of service for no actual reduction in cost

It's not a good idea to do collection every two weeks. Bins start smelling and when open the lid lots of fly come out.

We live in a block of six flats we were told that our collection would be every week. But are only being collected every fortnight. We have 3 small black bins for 6 flats to last us between us 2 weeks. There has already been other people from other blocks filling our wellie bins up as there's are full

I would like weekly collections reinstated without the need for ugly new bins clogging up our beautiful Wimbledon

Totally impossible to get recycling collected from our block of flats. No room for another bunch of wheelie bins so need to stick with boxes.

Two weeks is to long we are having problems with foxes at the moment and the size of the new bins are too big and with the recycling boxes and food waste bin there is not enough room to store them all.

I can home from work the other night at 21.00 to find the access to my house blocked by these 2 wheelie bins, which I had to pull out on to the path outside my property to reach my front door. so much for they would ensure that access was not block to residents.

The space requirements for these new bins is ridiculous, and they are unsightly. They will mar the appearance of the borough. The interleaved scheduling of the different collections is ridiculous.

An outrageous waste of public money.
We don't need these enormous unsightly bins which overwhelm our gardens.
Every front garden in Merton has, by virtue of these actions, been turned into mini Garth Road recycling centres. Surely the idea is to have only one unsightly recycling centre per borough.
As for limiting collection to fortnightly, this is quite inappropriate and will be the cause complaints about obnoxious smells and vermin infestation.
The local council get 0/10. Must try mush harder.

Dear Chris,
I recently returned from my holiday only to find two huge wheelie bins in my front garden. I refuse to use them and keep them in my front garden on the following reasons:
1. I have a small household and I do not need these huge bins (one size suits all does not suit me);
2. There is no space in my front garden for two huge bins
3. They look ugly and obtrusive , and spoil the view of the local streets
4. I have not seen anything as ugly as these bins ( now in every garden in Merton )
anywhere in Scandinavian countries which I visited last year and their streets are clean!
Shame to the Merton council which failed the fax payers by introducing this costly and environmentally wrong project.
Can you, please, let me know of any petitions against the wheelie bins locally , as I am sure people dislike them.

Who ever thought that wheelie bins would enhance the look of the tiny front gardens of the elegant Edwardian houses in Wimbledon Park? They are exessive, ugly and unnecessary. Just another lazy idea from Merton Council.

Very silly idea to invest that much money on wheely bins that will make the lives of merton residents uncomfortable
