I strongly object to this change in policy. Wheelie bins are a blight on our town. Ali f my road there are terrace houses with small gardens that will have bins permantly on show. The house next to mine is slit into 3 flats so will have 6 wheelie bins plus all the recycling g boxes.

Yet another mad scheme that reduces the service we get from the Council ,and adding considerable problems for many residents who will have to store these extra bins

Unacceptable! Council tax is some of the highest already!

Have not got room for more bins and wheelie bins too heavy for me to move. No need to change the system that works well at the moment.

It would be very difficult for me to accommodate large wheelie bins, and reduce efficiency for the collection team resulting in no long term savings in either time or money

The current system just about works, so why change? Cost savings hoped for are unlikely to materialise and will lead to a messy borough and a haven for the many foxes roaming the streets.

Save our weekly bin collection.

I want my rubbish collected weekly. I have no wish for it to be sitting around for two weeks stinking!

The smell and public health implications of this foolish move have not been mentioned. For example this will greatly increase the already acute rodent and fox problem in Merton as food will be left out for weeks. Doubling to two weeks also means that maggots will have time to fully pupate and so flies will multiply. Once a week is already bad enough in the hot weather!

I fully support this petition. If this new system is introduced our streets will constantly be filled with bins - how dare Merton tell us that ‘we believe every property has the space to store 5 bins’. I live in a house and I don’t have this space. Let alone the 4 flats in the complex next to me with the same front garden space. How are they meant to store 20 bins? Rats, foxes and dropping house prices coming to #muckymerton

The streets of our beautiful town would become a slave to the councils recycling policy. Do we really want to have our streets and front gardens littered with everyone's wheelie bins. Most people will have no where to hide / store these - what a mess it will be

There is simply no room to store all these wheelie bins and boxes in my street. I cannot understand the Council's approach on this.

Typical useless Labour council. Probably want the money for LGBT initiatives.

A sure fire way to increase fly tipping in the borough. If someone misses their forthnightly collection do you really think that everyone will be responsible and hold onto their rubbish for 4 weeks?

Dogmatic and inappropriate way to tackle collection and recycling and will have adverse effects for many tax payers - inconvenience of large bins, space taken up in their gardens or in street front areas

Could not agree more . This is an ill thought out rubbish collection plan and totally avoids mentioning the capital costs in order to implement . Typical Labour wasteage once more.

This does not work for the improvement of Merton it has been tried and failed in sutton and carshalton bins are overflowing with rubbish when is this council going to learn from mistakes

I do not see how new bins (Costing far more than the borough can afford) will keep our streets clean when NO ONE is going to come round and clean the streets -Oh that's what is happening now!

WHY waste money on new bins when we all have bins already. Fortnightly collections inevitably lead to cluttered rubbish areas with overflowing bins, smells, etc and could be a source public health problems particularly in crowded blocks where there are, presently problems with litter, rubbish not being stored correctly, etc. Rats are not our best friends. Shame on the council for pretending that this is a cost saving initiative. What about the cost of all these new bins which many will NOT have the room to store.
