Does it make sense to pay increased Council Tax to get less service from the Council?

A fortnightly collection will probably lead to an increase in fly tipping around the borough as well as overflowing bins on the street. What will happen to the council employees that work the bins, if it becomes fortnightly? They are obviously still going to be as they are needed but only doing 50% of the work per month that they are used to doing. Are they having to take a pay cut / redundancy? Where can we find out where Labour intends to make savings?

We don’t want any two more bins. We do want the streets swept properly. Stop wasting our money.

it will look ugly having large wheels bins in front of houses. Only 2 weeks collections might create awful smells.

Also, people that have a large garden bin and pay for this service, will in fact be storing FIVE bins in their front garden. This is another ludicrous and poorly thought out decision wasting thousands of pounds by this inept Labour Council.

Current system works well (no need to break it). It beggars belief that in this day and age a council would consider leaving rubbish to fester for 2 weeks before collecting. Please leave well alone and keep the weekly collection - thanks!

It is essential to maintain weekly bin collections for health and safety reasons. In hot weather the smell and germs of 2 week old garbage will be appalling.

Not sure where my council tax goes. Merton Roads in in a state of dis-repair and there is litter everywhere. Something needs to be done

Bins will not fit in my garage, I use it to store a car! Bins would then be left in my front garden which would be unsightly. Are council going to pay me for a bin enclosure unit & reduce my rates for making less collections?

The Crescent have a problem with rats as we are very near railway sidings.
Fortnightly collections will only exacerbate this.

Weekly is much better. There is already a problem with rats and foxes. In this heatwave the rubbish smell would be intolerable.

Fortnightly collections obviously benefit the contractors (re profits) - was this bad deal in the contract the council originally signed?

I do not need or want wheelie bins as I have no room or strength to move them.
