It’s incredible how the council think it is conceivable that rubbish (including my baby’s poo-filled nappies) can wait 2 weeks to be collected. It is common sense that this is a breach of the most basic health and safety ruled

Fortnightly bin collections are not acceptable.

Nothing against wheelie bins but fortnightly collections will be horrific.

Our streets need cleaning up!

I think it will encourage vermin if large wheelies are given to households, and will be very difficult to clean out, leading to dangerous bacteria. Weekly collections should be maintained in this high density area. We pay a lot for our rates.

This will be very smelly and messy!

Cost of introducing all of the equipment does not seem to be included, therefore the savings quoted is not realistic. Secondly where do all the Victorian, terraced houses store these large bins"

I don't intend to use my garden or kitchen as recycling facilities.

Most councils with two weekly collections spend huge amounts trying to keep the rat population at bay!

Merton is frequently a mess so if it goes to once every two weeks it will be even worse.

The whole procurement process for the new bins sounds like a complete farce. Did I hear the new contract awarded was 10 years+?? Who on earth signs contracts of that length in today’s environment. It should be 2 years with possible extensions linked to KPIs. There was nothing wrong with the old system. Maybe just lids required for the recycling bins. Why don’t labour focus on keeping the streets clean. Have they seen Kingston Road on a Tuesday morning? It’s disgusting!!

Do not allow a fortnightly collection in the weather we are having this would lead to rat infestation and disease

Current collection system is simple easy for residents New wheelie bins fortnightly collections will create problems, particularly with finding space for these bins.
