many people have wheelie bins why not allow same to be used and enable requests for new wheelie bins? instead of supplying new bins

We already have 2 wheelie bins as well as the paper/plastic and glass bins. We pay high enough rates to cover weekly collection and do not have room for more, bigger bins. We see no good reason to change the existing practice.

As a family of 6 as well as pets, no amount of recycling is going to make a fortnightly bin collection manageable. Considering the amount we pay in rates, I think the least we should receive is competent and frequent bin collection!!

This is the most ridiculuous
This is the most ridiculous waste of council finances that they have come up in. Why are textiles and batteries to be collected EVERY week in an assortment of plastic bags left out on fortnightly? Merton will look like a slum To be told at age 85 to take my present bin, purchased by me, to Garth Road is an insult and completely thoughtless. Who from the council is going to do this for me? Also I already have two brown garden rubbish bins, for which I pay £170 a year because I cannot get to Garth Road, and I certainly do NOT need another wheelie bin. The council talk constantly about care of the elderly - whoever thought up this completely hopeless and uncaring scheme?

Dumb idea, Do we need to encourage rodent, foxes, and create unsightly mess and smells?

this will contribute to the greyness of front gardens, and encourage more people to pave over their frontages, thus contributing to water run-off, and loss of water in the ground

Rubbish collection is an essential service re street appearance and public health. Please give us the full weekly service that we pay for and deserve

Nobody wants thundering great plastic bins in their front garden, what a waste of our hard earned money. The visual impact alone is a urban architectural "wart" Capital cost for larger bins and more of them just for the ratio difference of a two week collection!
WE just need one extra box for paper.

They are ugly and will defineatly lower the tone of the neighbourhood and in most cases there is no room on the drive. Cars should come first being of the road.
At present all rubbish should only be put out the morning of the collections to avoid overnight fox interaction.
The bin men should replace the bins where they found them and collect debris that they have dropped.

I feel that 2 week collections will add to the smell, litter and general filth in the street which is very rarely cleaned anymore.

Street cleaning would be lovely, especially in the summer, then perhaps my feet wouldn't be so black by the en dog the day!!

I thinks that the amenity of so many tree-lined streets will be vastly decreased. Furthermore Victorian terraced maisonettes are not equipped for putting up so many bins... the front gardens will look appalling and unwelcoming

A fortnight is too long to leave rubbish, particularly perishable, smelly items. We have enough problems with foxes as it is and as we all know, no-one is ever more than 6’.oo” from a rat in urban areas. What are the Council trying to do, re-introduce Bubonic Plague?!

I am strongly supporting weekly collection as there is now room for big containers on our property. Also it will be a health hazard to keep rubbish for two weeks particularly during hot days we are experiencing now.

This is a disgusting and dangerous decision that will encourage the spread of vermin and disease. If the system was in effect now with the current hot weather, the stench from the wheelie bins would be unbearable. Evidently this decision will not effect those that made it as they probably don't live in the borough. With regard to saving money, I'd expect to see a reduction in the rates bill to reflect the reduction in public services.

We already have a wheelie bin and a hot-bin to compost our paper waste - how can it be efficient to throw the wheelie bin away and replace with two - one of which we dont need.

I am strongly in favour of retaining weekly collections. Many people would not have room for these giant bins and would have to keep them at the front of their house making the street unsightly. I also agree with all the other comments that have been made.

Doesn't make any sense, not thought through and just an appalling plan.
