I’m all for recycling however because of the manner in which the system has been imposed with a clear lack of planning, we now have a reduced service for the same cost. Work that one out!!! Merton council is inept and well known for it. It’s about time the councillors are held accountable for a change and rather than parading themselves at events etc. on social media and in the local news, actually got on with their day jobs. Where else in life would you be happy to pay the same amount of money for a far reduced service? Before you know they will be switching off street lamps at 7pm to reduce costs.

The community is really unhappy about the fortnightly bin collection scheme. Especially about the wheelie bins in our conservation area in the village of Wimbledon. There is so little regard within the council for the true requirements of the residents and no consultation has taken place apart from one area which is irrelevant to the village and the surrounding wards. Terrible!

100% supportive of returning to weekly collection. Fortnightly collection is a disaster. Just wait until the summer when the garbage starts to smell and rodents become a problem.

We are a family of 5 and it's not feasible to keep rubbish onsite at our property for a 2 week period! The system is not working - one week we had a note on the bin saying they wouldn't take it and still don't understand why!?

With concern for environment the council introduced new collection arrangements with obvious good intentions but regrettably the new arrangements are not working as envisaged. The arrangements need some modification to make them simple and practicable. The starting point should be weekly collections.

against these bins because uncollected waste causes vermin and the safety issue for the disabled

I find these bins unsightly, and often left on the pavement.

Residents should have had a chance to vote on such a change. We have unlucky neighbours who have a large family and as a result of this change have overflowing bins outside, attracting flies and foxes.

This is a disgusting situation. Not only do I know how this tiny wheelie bin for my entire household waste of 2 weeks, but I several times now they've refused to take the "recycled" bin because of one tiny item in it! I am absolutely livid especially after how badly this council treats us even if we are late on one small council tax payment (which I have now paid in full for the whole year).
Absolutely disgusting, literally.

Merton is looking like a rubbish tip with all the unsightly bins everywhere. The streets not been swept for ages eg the Apostles area. Wimbledon Village Belvedere Square are exempted from these ugly bins.

There is evidently more rubbish piling up in people’s front gardens as a result. The number of fox related incidents in the last month has risen dramatically. Not to mention these new bins are desperately ugly.

Bi-weekly collections are not sufficient for a household of our size. We are forced to store large amounts of rubbish on our premises which is attracting rats and other vermin. The wheelie bins are not large enough and they have ignored all requests for a second bin. It's complete chaos.

We have no space for wheels bins, haven’t received them but are still on fortnightly collections despite tiny bins. If you do wheelies do it properly and don’t collect clastic in tiny OPEN boxes so that all rubbish still blows around the streets. And don’t chuck the food waste bags in the van WITH the recycling.
I can’t believe any of the rubbish gets recycled at all. Just a scam and pretend to get people out of jobs but spend money and bigger bins.
The streets are filthy with littler and no one sweeps the leaves ( or snow) which are dangerous and slippery !!
DO IT but do it PROPERLY

Eight weeks it is already evident that we need the previous system of weekly collections re-instated.

This is one of the most basic tasks of the council and needs to be weekly. The new bins are too numerous and oversized - just plastic clutter everywhere.

Fortnightly collections are grossly inadequate and a Health hazard.
Having to house 3 large Wheelie bins, plus 2 green recycling bins AND a Brown Food bin, on the front of our property is an imposition, and turns the whole area into a GIANT dustbin.
Thus proving that 'little' or 'no investigations or consultation with residents,' was carried out before these decisions were made.

on 12 November the rubbish collectors said they were not due to collect rubbish, despite the Merton schedule. They collected paper and card and admitted confusion. No collection now for three weeks - a rodent danger after 2 let alone three.
