As a graduate of the BUSD, former teacher in Benicia and current teacher in a neighboring district, I know how much time and effort teachers spend preparing for and teaching their students. We don't do it for the money, but teachers in Benicia, and all teachers, deserve a fair wage.

My family has been blessed to have had our 4 children attended BUSD. Let's keep our talented teachers HERE as well as attract HIGHLY qualified teachers with fair (& competitive) wages and compensation.

As a former student of 3 of Benicia Schools, great teachers are assets and should be paid accordingly. Your children spend their formative years with these people that help them grown into productive adults. Teachers needs to paid their worth and they are worth it!

If we want to stay a top rated school we must keep our teachers, students and parents happy. The turnover is too high here and with the wages given we see why. Let's help make it right. Thank you!

We are gone without a cost of living raise for years. Since the district has an excessive amount of money in reserves it is a responsible thing to do to offer a substantial raise to the teachers of Benicia. Teachers have done without a raise for many years in order to maintain small class room sizes. It is time, since there is money, to pay the teachers what they are due. Many of us are having to sub for other teachers because there are no substitutes. We are doing more and more every year and are not getting paid for the extra things that are now expected of us. The district has over a 17% reserve. The most a district should have is 15%. The state requires a 3%. BUSD has 14% more in reserves than is required by the state. There is more than enough money to give us a substantial raise. A 2% raise is insulting consider the superintendent is boasting of BUSD's state ranking of being in the top 10% of the state's school districts. Pay us more because the money is available. Pay us more because if it possible to do so!
