Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics Club is a welcome addition to the community of Vernon. It provides positive activities and support for youth living in the area as well as building youth's self esteem and mental well being. Please keep this club in the community of Vernon.

I have known Camille since she was a gymnast training for the Olympic Games and I have watched her coach throughout the years. She is dedicated and motivating for these young women and her club is extremely respected throughout Canada and beyond. It would be a great loss to the community and Canada should she no longer be able to train and mentor these young athletes.

Even though I am from Kelowna I support Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics because of the amazing influence their programs have with young girls' health, personal strength of character, ability to acomplish goals and a positive social outlet. Also, I love to go to their annual winter show. It is a credit to the City of Vernon to have such an amazing facility/organization. Please keep them going strong.

We need to focus on youth activities, as it will keep our kids safe and busy. I have been to a number of competitions and the coaches are caring and knowledgeable. They not only role-model, but expect the older girls to act as mentors for the younger girls. This community is a must!

I fundamentally believe that this gym deserves the support of RDNO and the City of Vernon to continue to provide high level training for a group of amazing young ladies.

My original letter to the RDNO reflects many of my thoughts today as well. To: Regional District of North Okanagan, Director Mike MacNabb & Director Bob Fleming: I am a long time friend of Camille Martens and her family, and so I write to you not only as a concerned resident of Vernon, but as a friend of the family. And while that presupposes that I would want to be supportive of a decision in favour of Okanagan Rhythmics, it also provides me with some inside awareness of the intent and benefits of the unique contribution of this athletic community/family. I sense that the history of this negotiation is fraught with unfortunate misunderstanding, miscommunication, lost records, possible behind-the-scenes role of RDNO employees, inspectors who no longer work for NORD, etc. I also have some awareness of the due diligence followed by Camille, her realtor, her parents, legal representatives, and others in the purchase and planning of this property as a training facility for Rhythmics. I remember well the due diligence that was given to open discussion with RDNO in anticipation of the purchase and operation of this facility. I was present at one of the NORD inspections. I observed full disclosure about the facility with much discussion about what the former machine shop for a logging operation might require for a transformation into a safe and workable gym space. It was on the basis of these discussion that the property was purchased in good faith, with all the excitement, anticipation and joy that Camille and her family bring to life. I have also seen the quick response taken to any safety and health complaints, with appreciation being spoken by Camille and her family whenever a safety issue they might have missed was brought to their attention. So, I must admit it is difficult for me to understand how a land use that was blessed or at least supported in 2009 when the property was purchased should suddenly be seen as non-compliant in 2015. Somethings doesn’t feel r
