Support Nursing Program at Los Angeles Southwest College

This’ll be an investment that will yield good results to the staff ,the students and the community.

This is my school! RN official....Spring class of 2018!!!

I think it's important that we ask these types of questions of the board. What is the jobs forecast for nursing over the next 20 years? How many community based nursing programs are there in Los Angeles County and what areas? How many campuses have had recent upgrades and or new buildings - what are these building designated for? How can I campus with a high school pipeline, relationships with Nursing programs at CSULA, CSUDH, and CSULB doesn't secure the success of such a strong and important program?

I wish for one moment that I believed that this petition will change anything...the evil plan is already in place....they are trying to kill Southwest, not nursing per se...nursing is one of the biggest reasons that people come here...without the nursing program all other GE's suffer, enrollment falls, and they can say that Southwest failed...then they will give it to East LA and Black people in this community will have even less than the nothing that they have now.....this is evil and criminal as it is Black people who fought and died to have a college in their community ( I don't care what the demographics say either).....they don't care about demolishing a legacy because it isn't theirs...we built this and the powers that be in this district will stop at nothing to destroy it and hand it over to others...50 years of legacy will be gone...now for those of you who would deem this post racist, go right ahead, because it is not...it is the truth behind the moves that the district has continued to make over the last several years...just because I love me, doesn't mean that I hate you....you gotta look past what you see, to see the real truth...

Southwest community deserves to have and keep a nursing program.

My wife is a graduate. Since she supports your cause, so do I.

Give our nursing students the facilities they need for an excellent nursing education.

I strongly support this petition. LASC nursing was once #1! I still strongly believe its potential to achieve that once again. But we need the proper resources such as a stand-alone building to reach that goal. As a graduate, we did our best with the limited resources offered to us. How can our program be the Flagship program of the campus when it is treated as a "stepchild"? LASC Nursing Program has the highest graduation rate on campus. Please give our program the much needed resources to excel and reach its full potential!

I went to LA southwest’s nursing program and graduated in 2014. I think it is disappointing that the number one program on the Los Angeles Southwest campus is treated like an unwanted stepchild. It’s so frustrating that the nursing program still does not have its own building and yet it is the star of Los Angeles Southwest. Every other program in this district understands the importance of having a stand alone nursing building. I do not know what is stopping LASC from doing the same.

Without affordable nursing programs with up-to-date facilities, students turn to private programs, incurring huge debts. Support the program at LASC!

Nursing is a vital medical profession. Nurses hold down costs, while often providing health and comfort services which doctors cannot. LASW College is the premiere education facility in LA County to provide trained nurses. The Bd should hang its head in shame for threatening to close the program.

It’s an equity issue. Our students deserve better!

The Nursing program is an example of why Community Colleges exist...to provide training in a critical profession.

Please erect a new structure for the nursing school. The community desperately needs trained nurses in our area. Southwest faculty, students and staff do a great job and should be encouraged. Thank you.
