We, the undersigned (students, faculty and staff guild, other union and community members), find it utterly irresponsible that an academically outstanding nursing program at LA Southwest College (LASC) is in jeopardy of losing its accreditation due only to inadequate facilities from the district’s bond mismanagement.
We stand 100% behind the LASC's nursing program and its efforts to achieve a permanent and BRN acceptable teaching and learning facility for LASC. We expect the Board of Trustees to act immediately to provide a state-of-the-art facility to support its students, faculty, staff and community interests.
It’s all about equity! Give us what we need to serve our students and community!
Nurses are in demand. LA is not producing the prepared professional nurses we need, especially as Californians over 80 are the fastest growing age group in the state. We need a strong nursing program to supply the trained workforce to fill the high-skill healthcare jobs of today & tomorrow.
