Support The Transformative Redevelopment Plan Of Northwood Plaza

I've been a homeowner in the Original Northwood since 2000, and I've been hoping for development of the Northwood Plaza all that time. I've previously been employed by Morgan State University, and see this as a true positive for the university, as well as the community. Shouldn't Morgan's students, as well as the community, deserve the same as what Johns Hopkins is currently experiencing in revival? Shame on you Senator Conway for being totally self-serving, I would have expected better as your constituent (and who has always voted for you). Perhaps time for a change? I wholeheartedly support the redevelopment.

I am in support of tge redevelopment of Northwood Shooping Center

I live 2 blocks south of the center and would welcome more shopping and dining choices. Having the students on site would only further support the new businesses at the center.

Well here's my suit two cents for what it's worth. I have mixed feelings on this project. Starting off, I would love to see this project move forward. With that said I understand the position of the ​Hillen ​R​oad ​Improvement Association.​ They are in favor of the project – just not in favor of ​M​organ hosting 350​ ​student​ beds​ at the site​. I get that, don't necessarily agree, but I get that​. I do not agree​ however​ that the ​HRIA stands the most to lose​.​ I think that each association is equally invested in this project, and has been for years. I do feel student housing should not be a considering factor ​in this project. I feel like the developers of this project are relying and depending on Morgan to help subsidize this project. And I don't think that should be the case. I understand that Morgan had previously designated space on the Morgan​ V​iew​ ​grounds for additional student housing, I guess I feel like the student housing should ​realistically ​be built there. The owners and developers of the current Northwood Plaza have been deadbeats from the very beginning. I think the owners ​have the total responsibility to make sure this project goes through. I think​ that​ Morgan should not be included in this equation at all. I think that the developer​, Mark Renbaum, with his ​"​take it or leave it attitude​" ​should be fired from this project and a new developer should be brought in. ​(This is the same developer to "redevelop" the Coldspring Plaza, a couple of gas stations, couple of laundry mats and what seems his biggest project is the Yorkridge Plaza). I​ a​m not impressed. ​The Coldspring Plaza "redevelopement" is a joke - some paint and a couple of sconces on a building does not a redevelopment make...not to mention, this company doesn't even have a website. ​I think that more focus should be placed on that aspect of this project then ​on ​whether ​or not student housing is included in the ​deal. I mean this developer is a ​F​amily ​D​o

We have far too many strip malls dependent on motorist customers. It's ugly, useless, and was the scene of a high profile murder. It's time to realize a Baltimore that embraces the needs of future generations.

Morgan needs more housing!!

I recently bought my first home just east of the Plaza on Argonne Dr.. I support the current plan (including student housing) and am looking forward to doing my shopping closer to home.

I live in Hamilton and think this is a wonderful opportunity. Northwood Plaza is urban blight and needs to be transformed as soon as possible. MSU students living on site would be a great addition to the community and add needed income for the local and planned retailers.

Please support the redevelopment of the Northwood Plaza shopping center. The current center is a target of crime, as evidenced by the shooting death of a former councilman, and a sad testament to a once-thriving retail area. My home is located directly across the street from current Morgan State students on Kelway Road. I can attest that I have not experienced crimes committed by these students and Morgan Police makes frequent rounds to monitor safety. The redevelopment would provide a much needed asset to residents of the three neighborhood associations involved in discussions, as well as students at Morgan State. I hope you will take the time to reconsider your position.

For thirteen years my husband and I have lived on Roundhill Rd across from the Northwood Shopping Center and have not used it. Please redevelop and we will patronize its stores!

This is not a new concept.Universities are partnering all around the nation (particularly in urban areas) to improve and develop deteriorating environments. I was a student at Morgan when Northwood had the Hecht company, 2 banks, a Doctor's a office a movie theater and much more pleasant environment. As a person who lives in my neighborhood I do not allow my wife and daughter to go there unattended. What can it hurt?

Housing for MSU students has to be part of the proposal.
