YES! I am a hard working mother who had to return to work full time when my son was 2 months old. It's unfortunate that the time that I did have off was only because of the extra insurance policy that my husband and I bought and paid for. The policy only allowed for 6 weeks for a vaginal birth and 8 weeks for cesarean. Basically just enough time to physically heal and no more. I long to be a stay at home mother but we are not at a point in our life that we can do that because of the high expenses that life has. I feel that I was robbed of the chance to bond with my son because of having to work so soon after. I also breast fed him but only up until 3 months because my milk supply greatly slowed when I returned to work. I think this is a good cause and wish you a lot of luck and prayers!

I live in the state of California where I received maternity disability and then child bonding time. It as a magical time to spend with your little one. I believe many mothers who don't get that, don't have as Strong of a bond with their babies. In Nevada, o was pregnant, but this state didn't offer anything for being out. It was a stressful time. I lost my baby ultimately, bit I still had financial strain to deal with after the fact. Please consider this petition so that other mother's may be able to enjoy their time off like I did when I moved back to California.

Take a look at maternity leave from other countries and why it works well for them. Then do that please

Babies need their moms. Breast feeding has shown wonderful long term health effects for children...if moms could stay home for the first year of their child's life without loosing their job or thier whole pay check, they could keep breast feeding without painful and exhausting pumping methods. Want healthy children, who are productive members of society and desire to be involved in their school or jobs? It starts at birth! Give mamas a chance!

Im expecting and was put on bedrest due to complication and im not eligible for leave i have a 9yr old and my income supports my family but since im out of work not only do i NOT get paid im only alliwed 6 weeks or i will be terminated. This really need to change

Is going to take our family months to get back on our feet , financially , after having our second child 4-9-15. Bills didn't get paid. Makes it for a stressful time , feels like your being punished for having children. Sad really. Here's to the future families ,hope it changes for them !

Both times I was pregnant I was in college and working and had several complications during and post pregnancy losing jobs and not able to attend college all that time. Lots of money down the drain with no help.

It is time to start supporting women. And through them, supporting families. We cannot preach how great a solid family structure is, and then not support the things families need in order to achieve it.

This should be mandatory. How can a new mother be expected to care for a new baby when her means of financial support is not there? I'm currently in e maternity leave and just had a son a couple weeks ago. Worry about finances is very stressful.

Maternity leave is necessary. We are supposed to be a world leader and economic powerhouse and have no regard for new moms.

i think it's appalling that America and Papau New Guinea are the only two developed countries without paid leave. It's about time we show up for our workers, especially the women in this country. It's no wonder women are still paid less than men.
