This is outrageous. Mr. Peterson was not only one of my most influential professors, he was kind and compassionate, allowing me to grow as a student. I still remember reading The Catcher in the Rye, and it was the first stepping stone for me to thinking critically of literature. His teaching style has not only helped me excel in university, it has developed who I am as an individual.

Mr. Peterson is an exceptional teacher. He made the students want to come to class, read and be engaged in the material. He asked us to look beyond the words on the page and consider the ideas of the person writing the story. He cares about his students learning about the human condition as they begin experiencing more of what life means.

Viktor Shklovsky, the great literary critic of the 1920s, said that "in order for art to say alive, it needs new raw material - infusions of the peripheral." Mr Peterson takes this dictum to heart. What he is teaching ultimately is how to keep the mysterious art of language alive. To revert to old, dead material is to kill the art that learning is supposed to inspire.

Mr. Peterson was a staple in my education at Arcadia. The material he presents in class fully prepares students for the Honors english classes ahead, as does his style of teaching. He is one of the few teachers I would remember as having a real impact on my education. Not only does he truly care for his students, but his course taught me so much about different literature that I truly can still appreciate even 6 years after high school.

Mr. Peterson is one of the best and most memorable teachers I've ever had. He relates to students on a level that is rarely matched by other teachers. It's been almost fifteen years since I've taken his English class and still find myself being positively affected by experiences in his classroom. Termination of the employment of this teacher would be disgraceful and wrong.

Dave Peterson is the reason I found a love for reading and some of my favorite authors. He is a gifted educator as well. I not only respect and admire Dave Peterson but hope that ony day my children have the privilege to learn from him as well.

I never had any interest in English and literature until I entered Mr. Peterson's class. He is one of the most enthusiastic and challenging teachers I ever had. He is truly a role model that all educators should strive to be like.

This educator was an inspiration to me twice in my life. Once in the 7th grade and again in high school in my sophomore year. His discussions not only provoked free speech but inspired generations to tap into their creative sides. If the current school he is employed with does not value his skills, he will have no issues shaping the minds of others. He is an asset to a good education.

Dave Peterson showed me how to think critiquely, to love literature, and eventually lead me on a path to becoming a filmmaker and finding my passion. To think that generations to come will be robbed of this experience saddens me. *stands on desk* "Oh captain, my captain!"

If more teachers showed the compassion that David Peterson has more students would care about going to school.
