Mr. Peterson is a wonderful, caring, knowledgeable, and effective teacher. He is and has been an asset to the Arcadia High School community for many years. Both of my children were members of his Freshman English class, which is something that I am very grateful for to this day. It would be a travesty to lose him due to the narrow-minded views of a few people. I do not want my children's curriculum and reading choices censored by people who obviously fail to see the benefit in reading work that does not fit inside a small mainstream perimeter.

good literature always pushes boundaries and that teaches kids to think outside the box and think for themselves. I'm a mother of seven and I would have been proud to have any one of my kids in that teacher's class!

Mr. P has made such an amazing impression on two of our kids....they are both better writers and better readers because of him! Our third child will be at Arcadia in just two years. I can't wait for him to have Mr. P!

How narrow-minded! This teacher has the opportunity to show the value of good literature. What does the school think the kids expose themselves to every day?

HE WAS MY FAVORITE ENGLISH TEACHER OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!! end of discussion. Parents these days need to let teachers do their jobs. If they don't like it then pull them out and homeschool them if they think they are better at being a teacher.

Arcadia High School is fortunate to have the opportunity to employ such a caring, creative and involved teacher! Mr. Peterson is hands down one of the best educators I have ever come across, and I consider myself lucky to have had the privilege to be in his class my freshman year. Rather than just reading from a textbook verbatim and giving tests on it, Mr. P teaches with enthusiasm and charisma. He uses methods that get the students involved and thinking critically, going above and beyond each and every day to spark a love for literature in every single one of his students minds (and hearts). Our generations to come would be blessed to have their schools filled with teachers like Mr. Peterson. Losing an educator of this caliber, one who exudes a true passion to educate young minds, would be an absolute travesty.

It's the censorship that should be decried, not the literature and certainly not the teacher teaching it!

Mr. Peterson's curriculum helped me through a lot of personal issues I was experiencing in life and helped me have a more understanding world view. Nothing in his educating was something I couldn't have seen at 8 on basic television, to lose him would be a great detriment to Arcadia High School.

These stories are far less explicit than almost anything a high school student experiences through pop culture. These at classic stories that explore important issues of identity, class, race, and gender.

We need more teachers like Mr. Dave Peterson, teachers who understand the importance of critical thinking and how the discussion of contemporary literature furthers critical thought. Let the man teach!
