I love the Metro Cafe! I had all my meetings with students there since it opened. We simply love it! It is such a campus-like cafe!

This is one of the most traditionally "college-campus" like areas on this campus. It's a place where faculty, students, and others run into each other for those very important spontaneous idea generations. Do not get rid of this space, if anything, it should be supported and cherished as the most important aspect of community here.

I can't imagine my morning walk to the office without a stop at Metro, where the baristas greet me by name and prepare the best drinks around. It's also a convenient location for a quick pick-me-up during the work day. I love taking in the art exhibits they host and running into colleagues and students in an informal setting. Moving the shop to a different location will take away the charm of the space and its convenience. It would also seem to disregard what Metro means as a part of the UWT community. I encourage you to work with Metro and help make them a permanent fixture on campus.

Metro has been a formative part of my life here at UWT. My graduation photo is of me in front of this building for goodness sake - campus execs should be more attentive to their students' needs, and less unaware of the community here on campus. If the campus is purported to have a significant role in the "community", they need to listen to the community members that actively engage in campus institutions, such as Metro. The culture, the people, and the coffee are the best on here - independently owned, environmentally conscious, and an 'intellectual' atmosphere. It doesn't get any better.

I can't go without Metro! This is a matter of loyalty and commitment. Metro has served UWT---often contributing to our causes and events with minimal charge---for a decade. Metro has earned a slot in our commercial sector. Save Metro! Mike Allen

There are precious few places on or near UWT campus where informal exchanges of ideas can take place. Metro is one of those places, and its existence is symbolic of the kind of place a university should be: where community, culture, and exchange of ideas can happen. If a university (especially an urban-serving university) that claims to value such things has any kind of credibility as a university, it will find ways to promote, foster, and support such places.

Metro Coffee is more than just a coffee shop; it's an art gallery, a quiet meeting place, and a refuge from the bustle of the campus. And the people who work there are more than just baristas, they are friends and family. So, I would like to know more about what the plan is to relocate this iconic and much loved business.

I am a staff member who moved across the country to join the UW Tacoma community. When I came out for my interview I was taken to the Metro. Just from the surroundings I was able to understand the culture and climate of the university, and it made a significant impression on me. I would be heartbroken to see the Metro forced to chance, but more than that, I think the university would be losing something that helps identify its unique voice.
